Title: Hash rate chart surrounding Nov 2012 Halving?
Post by: Melbustus on November 24, 2014, 01:37:32 AM
Anyone have a hashrate chart from the halving and surrounding months? I know I've seen one, but can't seem to find anything at the moment...

From the looks of it the hashrate was generally not affected, however the amount of money invested in miners was much less back then. I think it would be interesting to see how the hashrate is affected the next time the block subsidy is halved.

Hopefully the price of the bitcoin rise due to the decrease in miners dumping them. If bitcoin price rise twice then hashrate shouldn't be affected :)

The hasrate can be affected compared to what it would have been without the halving but you have to take into account the price and the natural trend of the hasharate.

Except that the halving will be priced in before it actually happens, because everyone knows it'll happen.

It is priced in today but can make the price go up slowly until then.
