The Electrum lightweight wallet represents an important milestone for Bitcoin, it removes the need for downloading the full blockchain, lets you recover a wallet from its mnemonic seed and offers cold wallet features out of the box. Today, we are proud to release to the public the result of last few months of development : Electrum for Alternate cryptocurrencies. DGC V3 client is slated for early December and hard fork is probably mid December. So best to wait til after the hard fork if you are planning on adding DGC. Coin has very active dev team and community and if you PM the dev I am sure he will give you some bounty for it too. A lightweight electrum client is on their to-do list and I am sure you would find support from the community.
