Dear CannabisDarkcoin community,

I hereby announce the taking over of CannabisDarkcoin by Altcoin.Center!

What this means is that Altcoin.Center will:

- Provide upgraded wallets compiled against current non-vulnerable versions of the OpenSSL library. No new functionality will be added at this point; this is just an initial "emergency" update to eliminate the risks related to the buggy versions of OpenSSL.

- Initiate the search for a developer who is able and willing to take charge of technical development of CND

- Manage the strategical planning and overall coordination of the non-technical side of CND development, i.e. branding, partnership deals etc.

- Generally look after the coin doing our best to give it a long, stable and prosperous life.

For starters we have already added CannabisDarkcoin to the Altcoin.Center addseed network. The network currently has four DDoS protected nodes; two in Europe, two in Northern America. More nodes are to be added shortly. The task of the nodes is to provide a permanent high availability block source for CND as well as other coins "protected" by us.

The seed servers can be reached at the following addresses:

addnode=seeds.altcoincenter.us

The block chain served by the nodes is the same that both Bleutrade and C-Cex recognize as the one with the most work in it. NOTE! There are still several forks out there, so make sure your wallet is in sync with the above seeds servers!

When posting this announcement, the number of blocks in the "official" chain is 86569 and rising at the rate of about 1-2 blocks per minute.

Both Bleutrade and C-Cex have been informed, asking them not to de-list the coin.

Just added your seed nodes to my .conf file and my wallet has started to catch up a lot faster.

I had only recently, (yesterday) downloaded the original wallet from the old thread so that I could send my remaining coins from BITtrex to my desktop wallet; so glad to know that the coin is now in better hands.

Another idea for the coin, would be to get a multipool set up for it. Multipoolmining.com are great for this type of thing and make mining simple. It will also create a decent buy pressure for the coin.

Probably better to do this once new wallets are released and working well though.

Cheers. Also, do you have a fully up to date blockchain that you can upload, as my wallet has taken nearly 24hrs now to sync and I still have 11,200 blocks to go. Have quite a few coins heading to wallet and would like to know they are safe.

We sure do! Actually, eventually we will be providing automatically updated zip archives of block chains of all of the coins hosted in our network. We're not quite there though so I made this one for you manually:

I faced a similar situation just a day or two ago, using 64-bit Windows 8.

I haven't had the time to test and investigate these issues at all due to more urgent tasks, which is why the automated data file downloads are not available yet.

What I do know that at least with some coins a data directory created in 64-bit Windows does work ok in 64-bit Linux.

I hope you'll be able to get your wallt synchronized soon. I was experiencing similar troubles when I was synchronizing the Windows CDN wallet for the first time. I noticed that it would download a bunch of blocks fast right after it had started, but soon came to a complete halt. After some tweaking and testing I ended up in a horrible hack: I created a schedule Windows task that would start and quit the wallet once a minute. It was ugly but it did the trick...

The fact is that things are pretty badly messed up with the CND block chain, and possibly with the wallet software as well. For example, I can't get a fresh Windows CND wallet (with zero block loaded) initiate synchronization with the seeds servers at all. The connection is built ok on network level, but no data arrives in. The debug log does not reveal anything of use; call you can tell from it is that the client and the server greet each other as they should, the client says it has zero blocks and the server responds back with the current block count - and then the connection just remains open without anything happening.

While this is again just guesswork, I do have a feeling even the "healthy" version of the block chain may have been corrupted somehow at some point. The situation will be taken care of eventually, one way or another. It's starting to look as if a mandatory update could become necessary some time soon, but that's not for certain yet. It's a tricky situation but we're on it. =)

Hi!

There is still at least two separate forks of the CND block chain out there.

The one our seed servers are providing is the same that Bleutrade and C-Cex CND wallets are synchronized to, while Bittrex is attached to some of the smaller forks.

This is exactly the kind of situation that could wreck huge havoc to the all mighty Bitcoin itself. I started a thread about the issue some time ago, looking for skilled developers to participate in a task force that would specialize in disaster recovery and post-disaster unification of the forked chains: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=812863.0

I'm working on finding a solution to the situation. It's a challenging yet also very interesting one.

Yes, and for a good reason - as long as the forking issue exists the situation is simply unsustainable from an exchange point of view.

It's not the end though and we're working to find a solution to this. A relaunch may be necessary but all options are on the table for the time being.

I think the current investors would be happy with a relaunch, as long as they could retain their coins, preferably at a 1:1. Either way, I'm just glad that another dev team has taken this project on and is giving it another shot. It had some fantastic potential, and the original dev really dropped the ball on it.

I agree and after investigating the few options available consider this pretty much the only one that makes sense.

It should be doable with a very simple wallet upgrade procedure, without a need for any extra hassle.

We're super busy at the moment but will try to come up with the upgrade ASAP.

I also see the potential the CND has and feel it would have been a shame to just let it die away.

Yeah it is really good especially when CND have been kicked out of bittrex, i hope something can still be done.

BITtrex will allow CND to trade again once it has hard forked and a new wallet is released. I can understand why they removed it, but they are good when it comes to allowing coins to start trading again should they fall under new ownership and development.

That is quite interesting and i also hope that CND could be traded over 1000 sats again.

C-Cex delisted?? This should be fixed. Community needs to ask them to list it again and CND needs an exchange with volume.

They will re-list as soon as a new version of CND wallet is out.

There has been a block chain forking issue (while CND was without developer) which is why releasing a new version is more or less mandatory.

Things have been happening very fast and to be perfectly honest, I do not yet have a 100% clear game plan in mind.

However, I do have the tendency to do pretty much everything in a completely different manner so that's probably going to be the general direction. ;)

That, however, does not exclude making mutually beneficial deals as well.

At Bittrex.

Ok, then there's no risk whatsoever in exchanging your CND to any other currency there.

However, if you plan to withdraw your CND to your wallet, then it's important to make sure you're connected to the same block chain fork that Bittrex is using.

I'll check in a moment if Bittrex is still on their own "island", or if they're in sync with the chain available through the Altcoin.Center seed servers.

Very good questions indeed.

The main block chain is in fact doing ok and can be used, although the situation is far from stable at the moment.

C-Cex and Bleutrade have their CannabisDarkcoin wallets connected to "the right" block chain - the one that can be accessed through the A.C seed nodes. Bleutrade's wallet is unfortunately attached to some of the forks that were born at some point, so whether or not CND deposits and withdrawals to their system work depends on which fork the wallet sending or receiving them is. I've been in contact with Bleutrade about the situation. We'll get this fixed one way or another.

The situation is overall not too good, and a new hard fork will have to be made ASAP - meaning a new version of the CND wallet. The really interesting part is going to be merging the forked chains. It will require significant amounts of (mostly manual) labor. Even so, it is doable and will be done.

As for the schedule, I'm afraid I can't give any estimates yet. Much depends on how soon I'll be able to find a handful of highly skilled coders who have worked with block chains on a very deep level, so that a task force capable of doing the ninja-like stunts required can be put together.

To be honest, I have no idea what Bittrex is about to do regarding CND.

I will, however, do my best to assist them in getting this forking issue solved so that no-one is going to suffer any losses.

Got some good news for you!

I've managed to locate a guru level block chain ninja who has experience of reviving coins that have been in a situation similar to that of CannabisDarkcoin. I have just sent him a message asking if he could participate in the CND rescue effort.

While waiting for his answer, I would like to make a quick poll: would you be ready to put in some CND in order to come up with a sum to cover a decent bounty for the ninja i question?

News update!

We do indeed have the necessary assistance available to fix the forking issue, should the community decide it's an effort worth investing some CND and/or BTC so that we can come up with a reasonable bounty.

The last time this particular guru was paid 1 BTC which I think is a very modest price considering that he saved the whole block chain and thus all the funds that had been invested into it.

Let's hear it from you! Do you wish CND to be saved and are you willing to invest in making it possible?

Another quick update on the CND revival project:

Things are moving along nicely. There is a solution that allows merging of the chains without any funds being lost in the process. It requires both a wallet upgrade and a period of time during which all action using CND must be halted.

So no worries - things will be back on track soon!

It's impossible to provide an exact time. We need to get all the pools and exchanges synchronized to the same version of the block chain. Should be a matter of days but really it's impossible to know for sure at this point.

The bagholders have been dumping it since I have been watching, and now there seems to be no more good volume for the same at Bittrex, people have declared that they don't have any more trust in this coin as it came down a lot and made so many people lose their BTC and it is making them think that it's a P&D shitcoin. Do you still think that even with a takeover and nobody watching this thread anymore, you will be able to turn the tables?

The situation with the coin was already more or less hopeless when the takeover took place.

People both loose and gain their trust very quickly in this scene, labeling coins shit and developers scammers with very little factual information to support their decisions.

I'm fully confident CannabisDarkcoin can make a comeback. I'm not worried if there are only few people watching this tread. I have a long-term focus and start with the assumption that trust is earned by showing results - not by make-beliefs.

But yes, based on my experience, I would like to say that most of the take overs have been successful based on the results shown as promised, if you have the caliber to fight with these consequences and you can prove it, then I will of course say 1 thing everyone used to say being a part of this community, "Yes We Cann"... ;)

Well decided to put some BTC towards this since seeing some of your commentary on one of the threads.

Not many can see the bigger picture behind crypto coins, altcoin.center happens to be one of the few that understands how much more potential crypto coins have for society.

Well, Neither do I have any personal animosity for the OP, nor do I know much about him, I agree that some people know the potential behind the coins, but it's my experience and I thought to share it as it was not good at all with some few coins in which situations took place for a take over and it was done...

It's impossible to know.

I'm just about to send an update to the exchanges and do hope they have the patience to hold on for just a little longer.

Sorry for the long delay! I haven't been doing much coding for over ten years and had to use some time to upgrade my skills. Still got a long way to go, but I can do my own wallets from now on which helps a lot in fixing the CannabisDarkcoin forking issue.

I'll be releasing an updated CND wallet with updated checkpoint information built in, that should help get the block chain back on track.

It is impossible to tell how many forks there are although it seems to me there are only two. Neither can I make any promises regarding how and when the exchanges will react, although I did send a note to Bittrex telling them there is actual progress here.

Thank you for keeping the coin alive. I'm still amazed that the original dev never had the foresight to see the true potential of this coin, so thank you for seeing this.

There are only 7M coins in total of which the full 7M won't be realised for a long time (due to staking) yet making the price for individual coins a very promising investment given the tech built into the coin already and possible future anon tech, which is what will really make the coin. Would love that last part to become a reality.
