Since Piratebay is facing so much prosecution, why dont we have a decentralized bittorrent network?

there working on that and have early beta tests going ahead its called "the pirate browser" thin theres a link to it somewhere on TPB. and when its ready for release TPB will become truly unstoppable :D

link to info on current version
https://torrentfreak.com/pirate-bay-releases-pirate-browser-to-thwart-censorship-130810/

trying to find link to the info on decentralized version
never mind info's in the same article

"The Pirate Bay team informs TorrentFreak that “PirateBrowser” is just the first step in their efforts to fight web censorship. They are also working on a special BitTorrent-powered browser, which lets users store and distribute The Pirate Bay and other websites on their own.

In theory, this will allow sites to exist and update even without having a public facing website. As a result, it will be virtually impossible to block or shut them down. The first version of this new software is currently being tested but there is currently no firm launch date. More on that later.

In the meantime, the development of PirateBrowser will also continue. The current release is only available for the Windows platform but Mac and Linux versions will follow in the future. "

because you can't put an internet site online in a decentralized fashion.

Also they have ads with hot girls, would be harder for them earn money in a decentralized fashion

you go and tell that to the "Freenet project" and watch how hard they laugh

https://freenetproject.org/

its one of the dark corners of the internet and for resistance to take down easily out does even TOR... warning its much much worse than 4chan for alot of stuff XD

It's more than a technological issue, it's a political issue.
