It's bitcoin value is only 0.01 BTC, si is unlikely one will ever remove hologram on the back  :)

I've ordered one directly from a dealer, I'll post my comments and pics when i get it.

I've preordered it form topworldcoins.com too for 79,90€. I've tracked also ebay sales and one was sold for 70€ (auction), and others
are selling for around 100€.

http://www.ems-silber.de/1-oz-Sol-Noctis-001-BTC-proof-Binary-Eagle-2014-silver (http://www.ems-silber.de/1-oz-Sol-Noctis-001-BTC-proof-Binary-Eagle-2014-silver)
It's cheaper here - 77,90€,

but Topworldcoins.com is official shop and i assume they will ship out first.

I bought last week, at eBay, from Spain, a Sol Noctis The Binary Eagle and already received it.

I tried to validate the public key 13SUhXbErJHsVQse11YGLt48njASvowt and I only get a  info that it's a invalid Bitcoin Address.

The seller's page is: http://www.ebay.com/itm/171532912010?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT (http://www.ebay.com/itm/171532912010?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT)

Is it a fake coin? I already contacted SolNoctis.com and I'm waiting for a answer. Meanwhile, can anyone help me?

If you type in the short code "13SUhXbE" in blockr.io then will you get this up:

http://btc.blockr.io/address/info/13SUhXbErJHsVQse11YGLt48njASvowtjV

This cannot be a coincidence.

Funded with exact 0.01 BTC at 2015-02-10 00:50:25

So I believe that the engraving is missing "jV" in the end.

I don't want to comment on why the engraving is missing two digits...

I can confirm that these are missing the last few letters/numbers at the end.  Same thing happened to me.  I wrote to the maker about it on day one they came out, and they completely disregarded what I said.

BTW...its not fake.

Hi, TookDk. Many thanks for your kind help. I was seeking the site to get the whole code using the 8 first digits but couldn't find it.

Yes, It must be not a coincidence. There must be a error of printing or something missing when sending the coin )the full 34 digits of the address in a paper), as the example images at their site have also 4 x 8 = 32 digits and not 34.

Let's wait for the answer from the http://eagle.solnoctis.com/ (http://eagle.solnoctis.com/) site.

bithalo, Thanks for your comments. Indeed, it must be a error with some/all coins.

Awesome pictures ct1aic! Those look really nice up close, great details. I think it's a pity that the last characters of each Bitcoin address weren't engraved for whatever reason, but as Took pointed out at least you can use the First bits to find the address. And it's only 0.01 BTC, so I think that's a smaller problem maybe than if they were funded with a whole Bitcoin and the address was wrong. I still want one of these for my collection ever since I randomly came across it in an eBay search for "physical Bitcoins" a while back.

Interesting side note for this coin also: APMEX, which is a very large coin/bullion dealer in the US, has this coin available for sale here (http://www.apmex.com/product/87693/2014-1-oz-silver-sol-noctis-binary-eagle-proof). That may not seem like a big deal, but APMEX is a Huge, well-known company, and I'm pretty damn sure that is the first physical Bitcoin they've ever sold! This could lead to even more cross exposure between buyers of gold & silver coins and physical Bitcoins/digital Bitcoin.

Also, I am pretty sure this is the first physical Bitcoin coming out of Poland! Physical BTC coins are definitely a worldwide movement.

Hi, my great friend snarlpill.

The coin is lovely and don't forget that it's a 1oz of .999 silver. That's better than the 0.01BTC... The only coin I like more than this one is the 1oz silver Casascius 1BTC. Not for the design and hologram, but because the history it represents, as being the first "family" of physical BTC.

I do recommend that you buy one of these Digital Eagles. You can find several @ eBay (http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.X%22SOL+NOCTIS%22.TRS0&_nkw=%22SOL+NOCTIS%22&_sacat=0).

It's a brilliant looking coin, but doesn't anyone else think the going price of 80 euro is a bit excessive? 0.01 is worth what.. $2.50 and the silver content itself is worth less than $20? I get the whole bitcent thing but 0.10 would have been more appropriate?

Wow.  That is a huge deal.  I might actually buy one from APMEX just to support their decision to begin selling physical Bitcoins.  I thought selling them pre-loaded was illegal and what got Casascius shut down.  Very interested to see how APMEX handles this.

Nice, those things really do look great. Thank you for posting the pictures ct1aic.

They do seem a bit overpriced for an 'unknown' designer.. unless we factor in the future $1mil per BTC.  ;D $10K would work.

Well, first off you can find them for around $80 USD, which is cheaper than 80 euro. The high price tag compared to its precious metal content and Bitcoin value is due to several reasons:

-The coin has a total mintage of only 2009 coins. Low mintage coin runs like that cost Much more to mint than typical runs of bullion rounds where 500,000+ coins are minted.
-The costs to design the artwork for the coin, and to manufacture the 2 dies needed to mint it are factored in.
-The costs for the 2009 ounces of Silver, and the total 20.09 Bitcoins funded within all of the coins.
-The costs to design and manufacture the custom, tamper-evident security hologram are factored in.
-This coin is a Proof coin, which adds to the costs. Compared to standard "business" strikes, Proof-struck coins take a lot more time and effort to manufacture, and usually after each single coin is struck, the 2 dies are hand-polished to assure its Proof quality isn't flawed.
-Then there is the time needed to securely generate the private keys and assemble each coin with its hologram.
-Also it comes with a COA and custom case I believe, which adds to the costs.
-Lastly, on top of all of that some must be added onto the costs so that a profit can be made, and the manufacturer didn't do all this work for nothing.

Sorry for getting a bit wordy and off-topic there, but I just wanted to try and explain why sometimes coins like these are priced higher than what people think they should be. This was also discussed recently in the Silver Wallets thread and explained by Blazedout419 nicely: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=983211.msg10835977#msg10835977

Yes, I definitely agree that .999 Silver physical Bitcoins are some of my favorites! Plus they combine Silver and Bitcoin, 2 of my favorite things and 2 separate but equally important stores of wealth and forms of currency! Plus, coins struck in pure silver just have such beauty and luster/shine to them, specially with a Proof minting.
Thanks for the link friend, will definitely have to add one of those to my "Watch List" so I can remember to buy one when I am able to.

I also love those Silver Wallets, but I can't afford to buy one @ the States, as surely they will go visiting the Portuguese Customs. Right now, I have 2 coins in the Customs and 2 Cascasius coins are almost there... :'(

Agreed, damn EU customs  >:( The EU commission and US are working on a trade agreement as we speak. If and only if they can agree - then could custom duties between EU and US be eliminated already next year.
If that happens then is it time for celebration!

That would indeed be a good reason to celebrate. Even though I buy more stuff from China, having to pay no duties for stuff from America would be pretty sweet.

On-topic: Those Sol Noctis coins look really awesome and I love the custom box. I just might buy one of them. ;D

If you're wanting to buy a Silver Wallet but worried about Customs, then I would message Blazedout419 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=134378) directly. He is co-owner of Silver Wallets and I've seen him tell buyers he could mark the value at the spot price for 1 ounce of silver for them, which is ~$16.00 at the moment. Also, they have some great sales prices going on right now in anticipation of their new release, you can check those out in Mitchełł's thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=983211.0).

This is a great example of why buying/selling on BitcoinTalk can be much better than a centralized marketplace like eBay; you can have much greater communication here. And I can vouch for ct1aic, I have sold him items through eBay and BitcoinTalk and he is a good buyer and a great guy.

I always feel sorry for you EU guys for having to pay such outrageous VAT taxes, especially when you are usually already paying higher for international shipping as it is. To me, VAT taxes seem like a mafia shakedown/theft by your government. But as is the saying over here, "Nothing is certain in life but death and taxes."

I agree, a celebration would be in order if there were no VAT taxes between the US and EU anymore. I think that would be a great development for worldwide trade and economics. However, VAT taxes Must be a pretty big cash cow for the gov...  it's hard to see them cutting off such a big source of revenue, you know?
On a side note I probably won't post in this thread too much more, I feel like I've been hijacking it with off-topic stuff!

The value of the package is buyer friendly and set roughly around the silver price. This is a standard procedure done by the person responsible for shipping (which isn't Blazedout419, normally). There is a good chance that Blazedout419 will forward you to me, as I'm their official sales person on Bitcointalk. ;D

I shall now be quiet because this is getting quite off-topic and I need to be a good example, hahaha.

Okay, this is my last post in here, promise! I agree Og, that is awesome about APMEX selling these! I know they've had them listed for a couple months now at least. I think in the case of APMEX selling loaded physical Bitcoins in the US, it is probably just oversight, misunderstanding, or a don't ask/don't tell situation. Or, they could have had their large legal team discuss it, I have no idea!

You should drop them a message inquiring about them listing/selling NastyFans 1 oz. and 5 oz. coins! Seeing a NastyFans 1 oz. minted seat for sale on APMEX would be epic! Would def. get NastyFans a lot of exposure too. I found the Sol Noctis Bitcoin listed when looking through the "Generic 1 oz. Silver Rounds" section months ago, and I know tons and tons of people look at 1 oz. Silver rounds on APMEX. Provident possibly would be willing to sell them too if you were wanting to go that route.

I received today, the following answer to a email that I sent some time ago, from the maker of the Sol Noctis Binary Eagle:

Quote
Hello,

First of all we would like to apologize for the delay in response regarding this matter.

Your coin is original and it is not a fake, and you can check this by entering the address on this service: https://goochain.net (https://goochain.net)
It allows to verify the address even by the first 5-6 symbols. You can try to enter these symbols and you will see the full address.

In the process of Sol Noctis development this service -  https://blockchain.info (https://blockchain.info) - also offered such option, so we took a decision to show 32 symbols. It was made for the reasons of appropriate design and symmetry of the coin, as otherwise the symbols would be smaller.

Please contact us if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,
Yuliya

As far as I know: blockchain.info does not support search on short keys.
blockr.io support search on short keys

Fair enough to decide on having a 32 symbol public address - for symmetry reasons.
However, 32 symbol public keys are not too hard to find, just search for them in the same way you search for vanity keys.
Really don't see any good reason why not to use 32 symbol keys instead of truncating the last symbols...

I'm tempted to buy one now that I'm in the U.S.  I've seen quite a few on eBay recently so I'll have a go and see if I can nab one at a bit of a discounted price. Thanks for the update :)

Where can these be bought for a good price? The cheapest one on eBay is $99.99 with shipping (which is quite much if you ask me).

It just dawned on me, all these people who refer to currencies besides bitcoin as "fiat", well by the dictionary definition.. bitcoin falls into the very same category as any other "fiat currency"

It looks nice, but I can't justify paying $90 for 1 oz of silver and $2 worth of bitcoins (though I did pay $120 for a Ron Paul Liberty Dollar once).

Its a very nice coin.  Slight problem is the full public address was missing a character or two at the end for me.
