Mooi initiatief, maar dan zie ik niet echt een toekomst voor die GEMS (ik kan natuurlijk enorm fout zitten :P )

Vind het een beetje raar, al ziet het er wel leuk uit :)

Bitcoin is ook mogelijk, het heeft eigenlijk veel meer te bieden naast een messenger zoals het belonen van de gebruiker met gemz op verschillende manieren, een uitgebreid enonomische model omtrent adverteren wordt gebouwd en toch even simpel gehouden als whatsapp.

Dat vroeg ik me ook af, maar het blijkt dat de kapitaal die ze hebben in multi sig wordt opgeslagen met koinify en onder andere de co-founder van counterparty heeft er ook zicht op waar de gems devs op basis van geleverde werk uitbetaalt krijgen, dus ze beschikken zelf niet over de funds wat toch netjes uitziet allemaal. Ze claimen zelf dat ze met gems op de jongere generatie met name de dames richten om ze in in de bitcoin ecosysteem te krijgen. Ik heb in ieder geval wat van gekocht, je weet maar nooit.

Nou ja, for the sake of it: ik zal hem eens op m'n Nexus 5 pleuren.

Blijft altijd leuk om zo'n met Google Translate verneukt draadje te zien, maar dat ff terzijde.
Ik ben eens benieuwd wie als de winnaar uit de bus zal komen. Gems, SendChat of StartChat. Alle drie gebaseerd op Telegram.

Heb zover mogelijk met eigen woorden proberen te vertalen en ik zie er niks onbegrijpelijks in, google translate zaten er teveel fouten in waarbij er veel gecorigeerd moet worden, succes met je sendchat project.

Niet dat het onbegrijpelijk is hoor, maar goed nederlands ziet er voor mij gewoon anders uit en ik ben nu eenmaal een spellingsfreak.
En dat is echt niet bedoeld om Gems af te kraken hoor. Ik ben heus geen radicale coinfanaat of zo hoor.
Als Gems de betere blijkt te zijn, dan gebruik ik dat toch?
De basis is in ieder geval bij beiden Telegram en dat is voor mij nog altijd de beste vervanging voor Whatsapp.

Snap ik, het viel niet mee om het perfect te vertalen, zolang het begrijpelijk is. Gems heeft veel meer te bieden dan alleen compatibel zijn met Telegram, innovatief gezien hebben ze het echt zinvol gedaan, voorbeeld (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=758004.msg9017388#msg9017388), ik zie mezelf hier wel van gebruik maken. Dat is wat mij eigenlijk aantrok en een van de weinige projecten die gewoon klopt, van developers tot de concept zelf. De keuze om Crypto technology te combineren met iets waarmee iedereen bekend is zorg voor een grotere kans voor een uitgebreidere netwerk effect. Omtrend Telegram willen ze de optie bieden waarbij als je een Telegram user Gems verzendt dat diegene een bericht krijgt om Gems te downloaden, zulke aandacht voor details zijn wel fijn om te zien.

Ik ben hem al aan het testen. Echt een pluspunt voor mij dat ik niet zo lang moet wachten op de Android versie als eerst aangekondigd.

Bedankt voor dit informatieve artikel en ik ben positief verrast om Chinese namen als Ainol en Xiaomi te zien. Ikzelf heb Gems nu op mijn Newman K2S staan.

Ik heb vorig week nog de iPhone 6 besteld, dus voor mij wat langer wachten op de iOS versie. Me broertje heeft em wel op zn galaxy 4 dus heb het wel gechekt en het ziet er wel smooth uit moet ik zeggen. Ik ga wat vrienden inviten zodat ik gems krijg, de airdrop is nog niet uit maar wordt met terugwerkende kracht naar je overgemaakt.

De link wat naar google play verwijst is wel down opeens, hopelijk wordt het snel gefixt.

Volgens wat ik hoor is er een nieuwe versie die nu in private beta is en zsm op de Play Store zal verschijnen, geen idee wat de changes zijn want alles leek perfect te werken :)

Vraag me ook af of er extra toevoegingen zijn of niet, wel werd er voorgesteld om bits ipv bitcoins te gebruiken waar ik mee eens ben.

Ben eens benieuwd wanneer ie weer bij Google Play te krijgen is.

Nice, alleen op google play is het overzichtelijker en handiger om de app te verspreiden dan de apk, dus ik wacht ook op de google store versie.

App is inmiddels weer te downloaden via Google Play. Het ziet er top uit en werkt prima. Merk dat ik nog wel moeite heb om mensen te overtuigen om over te stappen op Gems. Meest gebruikte argumenten zijn: 'whatsapp werkt toch prima' en 'als ik geld weer overmaken naar vrienden doe ik dat wel via mijn app van de ING/Rabo/etc'.

Wat dat betreft zie ik het eerder hypen in een land waar het betalingsverkeer via internet nog niet zo goed werkt als in Nederland. Als het vanuit dat soort landen groot wordt, dan zullen Nederlanders vanzelf wel weer volgen en zullen mensen het in Nederland ook downloaden omdat iedereen dat doet.

Doet me denken aan toen ik in 2007 overstapte op Facebook. 'Hyves werkt toch prima'? Het duurt altijd een tijdje voordat de massa de voordelen van een nieuwere en betere versie van iets inziet.

Daarnaast ben ik benieuwd wanneer hij voor iOS uitkomt, aangezien bijna al mijn vrienden Iphones hebben. Op dit moment kan ik er daardoor zelf helaas ook nog niet echt gebruik van maken.

Ik ben al langer geleden overgestapt op Telegram, nadat Mark Zuckerberg (FB) Whatsapp heeft overgenomen.
Als iemand graag al zijn gegevens deelt met het bedrijfsleven, dan moet ie vooral Whatsapp blijven gebruiken.
Mijn keuze is het in ieder geval zeker niet en Gems komt voor mij dan ook als geroepen.

Cool! Had het al geprobeerd, maar had bitcoin voluit getikt. Maar hij doet het dus. Genieten dit  8)

- Met Whatsapp heb je ook niet echt privacy, de data die je uitzendt kan uit de handen worden gegeven of doorverkocht aan adverteerders. Jij bent het product. getgems is gewoon top versleutelt waar zelfs het eigen bedrijf geen inzage in je data heeft. Ook al worden hun servers aangevallen blijft jouw data nog steeds veilig.

- Whatsapp maakt door jou miljarden aan inkomsten maar jij krijgt hier helemaal niets van, integendeel Getgems beloont de gebruiker naast het uitnodigen van vrienden met Gems, ook op een ander  revolutionaire manier (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=758004.msg9897703#msg9897703) en voor hun participatie binnen het netwerk. Dus de gebruikers staan centraal ipv het bedrijf.

- Whatsapp biedt niet de mogelijkheid om geld te verzenden wat bij Getgems even gemakkelijk is als het verzenden van een berichtje.

- En mekaar teksten is gewoon leuk man, met de toevoeging om beloond te worden en mekaar simpel geld te verzenden maakt het nog leuker. Het opent de deur voor veel sociale interacties.

Ik zal nog wel meerdere dingen vergeten zijn maar dit is wat ik nogal opkom. Als Bitcoin steeds bekender wordt is dat ook in het voordeel van Gems, overigens heb ik ook een iPhone dus ben aan het afwachten voor iOS.

Blijft natuurlijk wel de vraag, voor de average joe, die geen Bitcoin gebruikt of in welke andere vorm van cryptocurrency geinteresseerd is, wat Gems toevoegd ten opzichte van Telegram.

Dit is een vraag die ik ook al een paar keer gehad heb. Ik som dan de voordelen op t.o.v. Telegram, de vraag is of dit genoeg is om mensen over de streep te trekken.

- Het versturen van Bitcoin of Gems instantly naar mensen in je lijst
- Het beloont worden voor helpen met de groei van het netwerk
- Beloont worden voor het bekijken van advertenties en nooit ongewensde advertenties krijgen
- Een slicker design (zeker voor de dames)

- Voorkomen van spam, omdat je voor het sturen van berichten naar gebruikers die je niet kent Gems moet betalen. Dit valt onder adverteren.

- Ieder gebruiker krijgt een Instagram achtige hashtag.
- Ieder gebruiker kan de minimum bedrag dat die wilt ontvangen voor advertenties instellen. (handig voor bekende personen met veel volgers)
- Met Getgems kun je ook met Telegram gebruikers communiceren.
- Als je Gems verzendt naar een Telegram gebruiker krijgt diegene een bericht om Getgems te downloaden. (wordt eraan gewerkt)

- Overigens word je ook beloond op basis van hoeveel Gemz in je account aanwezig is.

Ik ben het er mee eens dat GetGems flink wat aandacht kan gebruiken, zeker hier in Nederland waar Telegram toch ook al flink wordt gebruikt.

Mijn 2 Gems

Ik zat eraan te denken om een kort filmpje ervan te maken tijdens gebruik, maar zou nog interessanter zijn als de app compleet is dan is het nog aantrekkelijker.

Een artikel hierover op geenstijl/powned of andere websites is een goed idee, maar ik ben niet op de hoogte of ze nou kosten ervoor vragen of niet? bitstraat gaat over betalen met bitcoins, dit zou erg handig zijn als Gems een qr scanner toevoegt waar je mee kan betalen.

Geenstijl/Powned lijkt me een heel goed idee, zolang het een positief artikel is.

Er komen toch veel jongere hoogopgeleide mensen die wel open staan voor dit soort initatieven. Daarnaast is een Dumpert filmpje natuurlijk zo gedaan.

Als GetGems een QR scanner krijgt, dan heb ik mijn zwitserse zakmes app gevonden.

Dat is een must, want hoe moet je anders je bitcoins naar een adres buiten de app verzenden. Die optie moet sowieso komen.

Eens kijken hoe het gaat verlopen, alhoewel ik wel de nodige dumpers verwacht, vooral in het begin.

Ik kwam uit nieuwschierigheid eens op de NL thread terecht. Zoals anderen al opmerken, de OP is een beetje raar geschreven. maar niemand schijnt te zien waarom :  het is geschreven voor ( en waarschijnlijk ook door:)  een hoog-intellectueel, die normaal een engelse thread zou lezen.  en mijn punt is hier :

Thanks, heb zoveel mogelijk geprobeerd om dicht bij het engelse vertaling te zitten en daarin zaten redelijk veel vak termen in, maarja bitcointalk is ook niet echt geschikt om tieners en dames te bereiken. Verbeteringen omtrent het vertalen zijn via een pm uiteraard welkom.

||This post is intended to answer questions regarding GetGems High-level roadmap. As we move forward things may change and we will take Gemz holder’s input on major features.||




Q Why was the name changed from Gems to GetGems?

A: The name of the app was changed from Gems to GetGems due to three reasons:
1. Our domain name is getgems.org - and a domain is important for branding. Adding the full domain name to the app name makes it easier to locate in the app stores.
2. The word “Gems” by itself is too popular and isn’t indicative enough. When users searched for the word “Gems” in the app stores, they received too many irrelevant search results (mostly games involving gems) and had a hard time finding the correct app. Changing the branding slightly to something more unique guarantees that the correct app will be returned in the first search results.
3. There is another crypto wallet app called GEM. The two words “Gems” and “Gem” are close enough to cause confusion between the two apps. We’ve decided that migrating to a name that will be more indicative of our app and not be confused with another will ultimately strengthen our own brand.



Q: When do you expect the iOS to be in beta for users?

A: As previously explained upon careful review we have chosen to launch an initial Android app instead of an initial iOS app as originally intended. This decision did not come lightly, especially since the team has originally made significant development on the iOS front and little development on the Android front. Nevertheless, we’ve decided to bring the Android version up-to-speed and chose to deliver the first public beta on this platform.

The factors which contributed to this decision were:

- According to feedback we’ve received from the community during the pre-sale, Android seems much more popular within our target audience of early adopters. Many of our contributors were very disappointed that Android was originally pushed to the third milestone. We’ve expected the market share to be about 50%-50% between iOS and Android, but de facto analysis proved that Android wins by a significant margin.
- iOS has additional friction due to the manual review process conducted by the App Store team for every version we upload. This makes a rapidly changing public beta on iOS much more difficult. It has taken our team 3 weeks to approve our first iOS version. By comparison, our Android version was live in just one hour.
- Encryption-heavy apps require special approval by Apple. The initial version that we’ve approved with Apple did not include all the encryption layers we’ve planned for the actual launch. We’ve estimated that this review alone would cause us to delay the original timetable.
- Maintenance state of the Telegram open-source project - Our team has chosen to improve our instant messaging capabilities by integrating to the Telegram network using Telegram’s open-source API’s. The iOS Telegram source is a year old and isn’t as well maintained as the Android version. We’ve expected that our first integration with Telegram would go more smoothly if we use the up-to-date repository.

After considering these factors, we’ve diverted our development efforts towards Android. The first app milestone requirements that we’ve aimed for were the same as the original milestone goals for iOS. Even though we’ve switched between iOS and Android and are working on updates to polish the Andriod App in correspondence with the community feedback, we expect the timetable for iOS to be much sooner than the original Android timetable. This is because our iOS codebase was already in a rather advanced state before making the switch. ETA for the iOS public beta will be announced in the near future.

Q: Any plans to create a Windows Phone version?

A: It’s all a matter of numbers and market share. Windows Phone actually declined in market share in 2014. It dropped from about 3.3% to below 3%. Until Windows Phone has a market share of 5%-10%, it will not become a priority in the project. The current app priority list is as follows: (1) Android, (2) iOS, (3) Web/desktop, (4) Windows Phone. Even after our team completes all milestones, we will probably find it more beneficial for the project to invest in improving Android+iOS rather than add a platform with such a small market share.

Q: Are you planning to have a desktop client?

A: We are considering a desktop/web client. We have not yet decided though on the exact security policy that will be enforced on desktop since desktop apps are naturally less secure than mobile apps (a mobile phone is always in your pocket and can be immediately identified using an SMS). There’s a good chance we will require users to confirm their identity via SMS every time they start a new session. In addition, there’s good chance we will decide that passphrases will not be encrypted locally using a PIN in a desktop app, and instead will have to be typed every time the user wants to send BTC/GEMZ.
 


Q: Will users who invite friends to the network now be given GEMZ for referrals later?

A: Yes, users who invite friends to the network will be given GEMZ for referrals later. The system currently records every new user’s inviter. This information is saved on our backend, but currently isn’t used yet since airdrops aren’t yet operational. Nevertheless, this information is recorded. Since every new user can have a one and only inviter which is only set once, every new user that you will invite, will record you as the inviter for all future calculations. This means it’s a good idea to get a head start and start inviting friends, because all of their activity will be attributed to you as soon as airdrops start.

Q: Are you going to add invitation link for downloading the Gems app that users can share with their friends with the inviter’s username already prefilled?

A: Yes. This feature will be added soon. It will become more important as we’re approaching the airdrop milestone and we’re aiming to release it before the airdrops. The first version of this feature will rely on the invitee’s phone number. Meaning your username will be pre filled only if you invite by phone number and know the phone number of the friend you’re inviting. In the second version of this feature, you will be able to generate an invitation URL that could be given to people you don’t really know and don’t know their phone number. Once these users install the app via your provided link, they will have your username prefilled as inviter.

Q: Where should I hold my GEMZ in order to influence my Airdrop reward score?

A: Currently, the natural place to hold your GEMZ is in the wallet created when you initially create your account. The system will examine the contents of this wallet for airdrop calculations.

We are aware though that users with large amounts of GEMZ will probably not want to hold all of their GEMZ in this wallet for security purposes. In order to accommodate these users, we plan to add a feature that allows connecting other wallet addresses to your username in order to influence airdrop calculations. Each existing address would be able to be connected to a single GetGems username, so only a single account will be able to receive credit for the contents of this wallet. These wallet addresses will not be used when sending/receiving GEMZ, only for airdrop calculations. We are also thinking of other possible methods to achieve this in the most efficient and user friendly way.

Q: How are you going to reward original crowdsale buyers for uninvited users?  If I sell my pre-sale coins will I lost this perk? How does the system know who is a pre-sale buyer?

A: Selling your original GEMZ will not change your original crowdsale buyer status. The original crowdsale buyers perk system will be calculated based on the original participation at the time of the pre-sale end which were recorded on blockscan. Original crowdsale buyers  will be rewarded relatively to their original number of coins that they’ve purchases during the pre-sale. The GEMZ reward will be sent to the original Koinify addresses.



Q: Do you have to know the username phone number in order to send him BTC/GEMZ? will this change in the future?

A: Yes, this will change in the future. Since we currently don’t fully support unsolicited messages, the only supported GetGems related chats are with friends in your contact list (with known phone numbers). You can currently only send BTC/GEMZ to them, so effectively without knowing a user’s phone number you can’t send BTC/GEMZ. Once unsolicited messages (see previous question) are implemented, you will be able to initiate GetGems related chats with any GetGems user (via their GetGems username) - and in this chat session you will be able to send BTC/GEMZ without knowing their phone number. In addition, the next release of the app will support a wallet to wallet BTC/GEMZ transfer by wallet address. This means you will be able to send BTC/GEMZ to any wallet address that you know directly from the app. This isn’t as convenient as sending BTC/GEMZ via chat, but is still useful for sending BTC to non-GetGems users.

Q: Is it going to be possible to send BTC/GEMZ outside the GetGems application? Are you going to integrate a QR scanner?

A: Yes, it will be possible to send BTC/GEMZ outside the GetGems application. The next release of the app will already contain a feature allowing sending BTC/GEMZ to any known wallet address. This address does not necessarily need to be a GetGems user. The next release will not include a QR scanner, but one will definitely be added in the future.

Q: What happens when you try to send BTC/GEMS to a Telegram user?

A: We technically cannot send BTC/GEMZ to a Telegram user who isn’t a GetGems user because we don’t have a wallet address associated to them. If this Telegram user has his phone number registered on an existing GetGems account, we will allow sending BTC/GEMZ based on the phone number connecting both accounts.

If we don’t have a phone number connecting to a GetGems account, instead of sending BTC/GEMZ, we will automatically invite the Telegram user to install GetGems and create a GetGems account. This will be an excellent method of referral, since the inviting user will receive invitation credit for this new user. Once the Telegram user installs GetGems and has a wallet created, they will be able to receive BTC/GEMZ.

Q: Is there a tutorial how to use the GetGems app? How do I send GEMZ/BTC? How can I find my mobile wallet address?

A: We will create easy-to-use video tutorials that will help non-tech savvy users use the wallet-related features of the app. We find this aspect very important because one of the main goals of the project is to introduce the public to crypto.

Until these videos are created, there are in-app TIPS which explain how to do all of these actions. Open the wallet from the app (via the side-menu). Inside the wallet, see the TIPS section on the bottom. These TIPS explain all of the basic actions - like how to send BTC/GEMZ between users, how to find out and copy your own wallet address, etc. A tip for using TIPS: Every time you open the wallet, you will see a random tip. If you tap on the tips, the current tip will change, so just tap on the tips a few times to see all available ones.

Q: Will you add notification that someone has sent you GEMZ/BTC?

A: Yes, this will be added in one of our next releases. The notification is planned to appear as a regular text message in the relevant conversation. This method means that you will receive both a push notification and the message will also remain in your chat history until deleted explicitly.

Q: Is it safe to hold GEMZ in the mobile wallet?

A: It is safe to hold GEMZ in the mobile wallet. The app makes significant effort in securing the wallet, encrypting all secrets and making sure your sensitive data never leaves the device.

Having said that, we recommend to look at the mobile wallet the same way you look at your physical pocket wallet. Your pocket wallet is different than your bank account. You will usually hold day-to-day spending money in your wallet, but keep the bulk of your savings in your bank account. The recommended practice is to keep a relative low number of GEMZ in your mobile wallet, and use if for sending to friends. If you own a significant amount of GEMZ, it’s a good idea to hold it in a different wallet which is harder to access and easier to secure.

You should be aware of the following security consideration when holding a large number of GEMZ in the mobile wallet. The passphrase for accessing your wallet is encrypted locally on the device. This makes usability better because instead of typing in the entire passphrase every time you want to send BTC/GEMZ to friends, you just need to type in a PIN. But, this also means that if a thief gains access to your physical device, they will have an encrypted copy of your passphrase. In order to decrypt your passphrase, the thief will have to guess your PIN. It is true that a PIN only has 4 digits, but after several failed attempts to guess the PIN, the server will lock your account and prevent decryption. This makes your passphrase extremely secure, but still, having the passphrase completely absent is even more secure.

Q: Can I log with my GetGems 12 word passphrase to counterwallet.io? How can I extract my private key from the GEMZ andriod app?

A: In order to log into your wallet via Counterparty’s web wallet, all you need is your 12 word passphrase. Once you type the passphrase there, you will have full access to the contents of your wallet without any additional keys. To view your private key in counterwallet click on the blue “Address Auctions” button and than on “Show Private Key”, please make sure nobody can look over your shoulder or see your screen.

It is not possible to extract any keys from the GetGems app. The app does not save any relevant keys in cleartext directly on the device. All sensitive data on your device is saved in encrypted form and cannot be decrypted manually.

Q: Can a new user that just received this first GEMZ from a friend send GEMZ without having BTC in his wallet?

A: our plan is that GEMZ will be settled offline through the GetGems internal hosted wallet. This is a hybrid semi centralized database system meant for smaller balances and to allow for speed, security and zero transaction fees. GEMZ will be able to withdrawn to any external counterparty wallet which will be processed using our secure counterparty gateway server.

The hybrid solution is good for the "Airdrop" and for new users while not taking from the security of users that want to have their GEMZ only on-chain.



Q: When will users be able to search for GetGems usernames and start an unsolicited chat? Why can I find some usernames but other not? is this a bug?

A: Currently, the in-app search mostly relies on users from your contact list and existing chat conversations. We also have username search, but this currently fallbacks to Telegram username search. Since you cannot set a Telegram username in the app, the search results you are seeing are actually for users who set the same username for this phone number in a previous Telegram account that they have. This means it’s not really a bug, but more that it isn’t currently searching for the correct usernames.

Regarding the implementation of unsolicited messages and searching for GetGems usernames - we are currently working on this feature. In the future, our model dictates that sending unsolicited messages to users who don’t necessarily want to receive them, will cost GEMZ (this is part of the attention economy model). The first implementation of the feature will not require a GEMZ payment to send unsolicited messages, and unsolicited messages will be open for everybody. But, since we want to be able to add the GEMZ payment in the future, we have to plan this feature carefully.

You can expect to see the first version of this feature (searching by GetGems username and free-for-all unsolicited messaging) in the next couple of weeks.

Q: Location Sharing is not working for the recipient, will you fix this?

A: Yes, this will be fixed just like any other open bugs during our public beta. Be sure to report all open bugs to our team to make sure they are known and being worked on.

Q: Sending GEMZ/BTC is not working, when will you fix this?

A: This will be fixed in the next immediate release of the app. The problem was caused by changes made by Counterparty to their protocol that we’ve had to address.

1. Moved get wallet balance counterparty API calls to client in order to improve robustness. The old implementation involved making these API calls from the GetGems server which was causing problems.

2. Implemented two modifications to Counterparty API's which broke functionality. The Counterparty protocol has been slightly altered and these changes have been accommodated into the client. This fixes existing problems with getting wallet balance and sending BTC/GEMZ.

3. Added functionality in the wallet to send bitcoin/GEMZ to specific wallet addresses. The wallet address needs to be copied to clipboard. Instead of opening the chat to send money, the wallet can be opened, and then a dedicated screen for sending funds to address (see attached screenshot).


4. Improved activity fraud monitoring. We are preparing towards the beginning of the airdrop. In order to make sure the airdrop is fair, we are improving monitoring.

5. Added Chinese translation strings.

Dat is heel leuk voor ze, maar die iOS release mag nu wel een keer komen. Ik heb mijn hele omgeving begin januari (allemaal Iphone bezitters) al proberen te enthousiasmeren voor de App met de notie dat de iOS release er snel aan kom (hun woorden), maar het is er nog steeds niet.

Dit werkt niet echt bevorderlijk om deze mensen straks aan boord te krijgen.

Met je eens, kan niet meer wachten. zal sowieso pronken ermee voor vrienden ipv de gebruikelijk whatsapp, ze laten afvragen wat het is.

1. Our major concern during the last two weeks is improving Counterparty stability. We currently rely on Counterparty servers in order to perform tasks like opening a new wallet, sending coins, etc. The Counterparty dev team updates their servers and API very frequently and these changes aren't always backwards compatible. Then we suddenly find ourselves with broken API and rushing to publish fixes because important features suddenly stop working. Our plan of action is to launch a cluster of our own XCP nodes (they are open-source after all) and rely on them instead. This way, we will control the rate of updates and can make any updates to our client before the servers change. We have successfully set up a staging environment for this and will soon after some QA deploy it to production as well.

2. We finished development for unsolicited user support - meaning the ability to search the global user database of GetGems users according to their GetGems username and start a conversation with them without knowing their phone number. [In the future, our model dictates that sending unsolicited messages to users who don’t necessarily want to receive them, will cost GEMZ (this is part of the attention economy model)].

3. We are thinking of ways to increase our user base and make the GetGems app more viral. The first method we're working on is handling sending of coins (GEMZ/BTC) to contacts who don't have the GetGems app (they are using a regular Telegram client). These users will receive a Telegram message saying that their contact is trying to send coins and they have to download the app in order to collect them (download link added). This feature is currently in QA.

4. Another very exciting feature we're working on is integration with an amazing 3rd party sticker provider. This opt out feature will display context-aware stickers during chat (even animated GIFs) which makes chatting through GetGems much more visual and fun. When these special chat messages are sent to users who don't have a supporting client (like the GetGems client), they'll receive a message urging them to download the GetGems app in order to see the content of the message. We are currently in the middle of the integration phase which we expect to be finished within less than week.

5. We currently allow several GetGems accounts to be opened on the same phone number (useful in case somebody loses the passphrase and has to open a new account). This behavior causes an inconsistency when sending coins to users by text message, in case the receiving user has opened several different accounts (wallets) on the same phone number - which wallet should receive the coins? We altered the current behavior to send the coins to the latest account but this fix is temporary. We're working on a more robust solution where the receiving user will provide the sending user with the current wallet that is in use by their app.

Yep heel mooi en aardig allemaal :) Alleen lijkt me dat de iOS release ook wel aardige prioriteit heeft. Hopelijk zit de iOS release direct op hetzelfde niveau als de zich verder ontwikkelende Android versie.

Zou fijn zijn. Overigens wel gaaf dat ze bezig zijn om bewegende animaties mogelijk te maken in de chat. Dat zou dan voor vele niet tech-savvy leden allicht weer een belangrijkere reden zijn dan het versturen van Gems of Bitcoins om over te stappen.

Dat is inderdaad een leuke feature, brengt meer fun. Waar ik heel erg op hoop is dat ze het verzenden van bitcoin en gemz mogelijk maken voor groep chat wat tot 200 personen plaats maakt om deel te nemen. Op whatsapp ben ik vaak actief met vrienden in groep chat en zou echt cool zijn als mensen elkaar bitcoin of gemz zouden kunnen sturen, het opent een nieuw manier van communiceren bv weddenschappen, flirten, of soms wat iemand zegt is zo goed dat je hem gewoon wilt belonen met btc/gemz ipv een box te geven en dat anderen meekijken is toch wel mooi.

Heb het inmiddels geprobeerd en het is inderdaad wel erg cool. Ik zie dit, zeker onder de middelbare scholieren en studenten best wel een hype worden.

Die stickers zijn momenteel alleen gelinkt aan Engelse woorden. Als je het echt goed wilt doen, dan zou je het moeten linken aan dezelfde woorden in alle grote taalgroepen. Daar gaat echter wel veel werk in zitten.

Allemaal mooie features die zjin toegevoegd. Maar ik blijf met smart wachten op de iOS release, zeker nu facebook zich ook begint te mengen met een 'geld uitwisselingsfunctie' via de App. Ik weet het, dat is met debit cards, maar toch, voor jan met de pet is dat juist simpeler. Dat de veiligheidsrisico's dan juist hoger liggen begrijpt jan met de pet ook niet.

Die fb feature is niet peer to peer want het gaat alsnog via de bank en het duurt volgens techcrunch aantal dagen voordat het geld die je ontvangt op je debitcard staat, dan heb je er eigenlijk niets aan. Het voordeel voor de verstuurder is wel dat je dan weinig gegevens moet invullen en gelijk kan verzenden.

Als ze bitcoin hadden toegevoegd dan was het wel chill geweest wat gewoon superieur is aan fiat, je ziet duidelijk dat fb, mastercard, visa met nieuwe ideeën willen komen maar alsnog bitcoin ze overtreft op veel gebieden en het grappige is dat ze maar weigeren bitcoin te implementeren. Dit maakt apps zoals GetGems bijzonder en als ze bitcoins implementeren dan is het imo alsnog in voordeel van zulke apps omdat ze eerder erkend zullen worden door de bredere publiek.

De iOS versie zit er nu echt aan te komen. Ik denk zelf dat het nog max. 2 weken duurt. Een makkelijke manier om veel mensen over te halen om deze App te installeren is om dit proberen via je groepsapps te doen. Dus voor je sportteam, je studiegroepje, enzovoorts, laat ze zien hoe cool Gems is, stuur een download link en maak de nieuwe groep in Gems.

Als incentive zou je ook nog wat Gems mee kunnen sturen die ze kunnen incasseren wanneer ze een account aanmaken.

Ik heb zelf de afgelopen dagen nog maar wat Gems bijgekocht want ik voorzie een mooie toekomst voor deze app.
