If you're tired of of gambling, I invite you to the first Urban Terror server (www.bitcointerror.com) where you can play for bitcoins. Do not count on luck count on their own skills. Urban Terror is a free and open source FPS game, works well even on old computers. The rules are very simple, If you kill somebody you get part of Their bitcoins and vice versa. Everything is automated. It is a very early phase of the project and may contain bugs so please be understanding and help in testing.I will be happy to hear your comments and suggestions. I did not modify the game(you can download from any source), I just created a system that allows you to play for bitcoins ! On server1 are available only knives and grenades, so using AIMBOT (cheating mod) is pointless.  On the server2,  bots/cheat are permitted. For the moment the server is empty so I invite you to play :)
Bitcoin may be useful in the gaming world. I'd like to play for bitcoins but not gambling. I just want to show it's possible :)
What kind of games do you want to play for bitcoins ? Do you think BitcoinTerror or other games of this kind (for bitcoins) is a good idea?

wow, i really wish i was better at FPS's. This is such an amazing idea, i love the fact that i can genuinely earn coins just by being good at something (or in my case bad and lose coins :p)

Haha, there are a few things out there like this for CS:S where you get money for winning against other players, but this is a much cooler idea. Pay per kill. This could be huge if it gets noticed tbh :D

I have lots of ideas about this game and I'm open to any suggestions.

i like the idea of earning by skill, instead of just dumb luck(like in casinos, lotteries, ...)

suggestion: maybe you should make it less expensive to play... like 0.003 per kill. also a smaller fee 10% is just too high...
that way you will get more gaming and fun out of it, and in the end more money :)

A forgot. You will be kicked from the server automatically when yours credits = 0 BTC :)  You have to refill yours account before game. This is because if somebody kill you, he must get paid from your bitcoins account.

Ok, no problem. Fee = award for the best  players. 0.003 is to low, you must kill 333 times without dying even once to earn 1 BTC  :)  

I think the stakes should be a bit higher. Possibly 0.01.

I change it:
Server1 - 0.02BTC
Server2 - 0.01BTC

I will also appreciate if you get rid of the fees. With the fees it makes it too hard to stay positive.

Great game though, I really think it will become popular with no fees. Playing knives and nades only makes it more fun as well.

This would be sweet for BF2 or 3. But the thing is, those games aren't free, so there will ultimately be less players.

I think you should up the stakes to 0.05, or even 0.1.

That would make for a really fun game. You could possibly make servers with different stakes.

You are wrongly associating bitcoin with terrorism. This is playing into the goverment and banking cartels hands. They will use the "links with terrorism" argument when they move to outlaw bitcoin.

You are damaging bitcoins reputation by calling your game "BitcoinTerror". Please change it.

I saw you made the third server with higher stakes. That's cool, but the fee is way too high. If you remove the fee altogether, that would make for an awesome game.

Also, if you could display how many people are on each server on the site, that'd be cool. And you should allow more than two people per server.

I'd donate a Bitcoin if he stopped taking fees. That's more than he'll earn in fees over a month.

Fee = awards for best player/players once a week. Server1 is fee free. I collect bitcoins to buy dedicated server (VPS now). If you don't like fee play on server1. If you want play on stable dedicated server you can donate project playing on server3. You've earned today 0.8BTC, fee from all match today <0.1BTC :) Do not be scrooge :)

1BTC = 2000 kills fee !!! on server2  (200 - server3) its it almost like gambling ????? OMG

limit on each servers = 24 players

today: 294 killed = <0.1BTC fees

It works from the beginning. Click menu button - Server1/server2/server3 and look for "Currently playing"

Lower them, not drop them altogether. It might actually help his returns: more people will play. 15 people paying 2%, or 3 people paying 4%, is better than 2 people paying 10%.

you're right. but:
Dedicated server = 30BTC / month
30BTC ~ = fee from 60 000 kills (5% - server2)
60 000 Kills ~ = 500 - 1000 users
500 - 1000 users = 2 - 3 dedicated servers need :(

Take the fees out completely and make people pay 0.2 or 0.5 BTC each month to play, maybe?
That way you can get the money for servers more easily and Scrooge McDuck won't complaint about the fees, but he'll have to pay to get the service provided.
In the end he'll probably pay more, but some person's brains are just screwed up and don't see things how they really are. Perception above reality, you know? ;)

There are more and more players, but still not enough to meet at the same time. 1-3 players can be found at the server sometimes. The project runs until a few days so there is a chance that players will be more. For now, the best option is to making arrangements with your friends.

You will take a percentage from it.

When you play you bet on yourself :) bet on other players makes sense but not yet. (waveaddict vs S3052 ;) )
I do not need to earn bitcoins. Fee is for server maintenance and for best players. I would like to buy a dedicated server, now is the VPS.
Server1 is fee free.

I have 2 ideas:

1)
You can maintain the high fee while the server cost isn't covered.
After that the fee goes lower.

You should make a public counter so that players will be able to see how much is needed arrive at the lower fee.

On this way player will know that if they the server cost is covered before the end of the month, they will be able to win more!
So they will try to get as many players as they can to come here and play on your server, so that there will be higher probabilities that you cover the server cost early :)

2)
The more you play the lower the fee
Whenever someone kills or dies, if he play a lot ( so that he moves a lot of bitcoins on your services ), he will get lower and lower fees.
The fee value will reset every month.

Your ideas are good. If anyone has other ideas, please write. Garr255's idea of donations is too risky. I have to think about it all.
As I said server1 is still fee free. Server2 has a low rate. Server3 is for the hardcore gamers :)

Just a heads-up: don't put too much time in using a FPS for this. You will eventually have to do strategy games or something.

The reason is very simple: you will lose the cheating war, and after a short time, it will be nothing but a hacking orgy. FPS are just too easy to play for bots or "human enhancers", so no matter how you setup anti-cheat stuff, there's always a way to be better with a hack or aimbot.

Difficult games like Go or StarCraft, or games that focus on diplomacy, might be an idea for the long run. Just anything it's hard to program a bot for.

Cheating and bots are allowed for all :) but on server1 and server3 only knife and Grenades are avabile so cheating is pointless (skipping radar). Server2 = bots battles :)


I love strategy games. Another game that I'm going to do is just a strategy game :)

You should enable punkbuster on the server. Cheating is lame and actually playing is better.

Are you able to make the dedicated-password thing with other games? ( even if they aren't free )
There are other games that have a good anti-cheat system but they are also cheap.
Counter-Strike is one of them.

I am able to modify some of games, not all. I am able to also modify the Counter Strike :)

The best way to fight against cheaters is a deposit (5-10BTC) that you can lose if you cheat. Punkbuster sucks.

You believe me there is a lot of ways. I have log of every single shot :) I can watch the players while they play(and record). I can calculate hit ratio ... and many others. For those who do not like cheats invite to server1 and server3, but only Grenades and kinfe are avabile

I can ban for cheats, but somebody can always create a second account from another IP. Deposit is the best, but then who would want to play? :)

Can you use a system like bitcoinary.com ?
It has many way to check the user is real and unique.
It doesn't show any private informations to others, but it need them to be able to trade:
-Email
-Mobile Phone
-Facebook
-Twitter
-LinkedIn

If the user give these and more accounts, he will not be able to register again easily.
Also, you can open a way to report users.
If an user has some reports, he will not be able to withdraw bitcoins before your check.

More over, if you start supporting games that costs more than 20$ ( and they have some good interna anti-cheat system like VAC ), it will be very difficult for users to get more than this price.
It will be stupid to cheat and get few bitcents and than lose the 20$ ( or more ) game value.

This requires reliable means to actually detect cheaters, which is generally not possible. You will be running an arms race in which the hacker is always at the advantage, because he has full control over his own PC and can in principle simulate any local checks a program like Punkbuster is supposed to do. A smart cheater can make himself strong enough than unrealistically strong, so it need not be obvious who is cheating.

People who cheat in public shooter games are generally lowlifes, so outsmarting them is not so hard. But when playing for money, the cheaters will be a lot more sophisticated. I know people who have dug into some commercial online games just out of boredom. The amount of loopholes, bugs and security blunders they discovered always sufficed to blow up the game more than just once. And helper bots... they're just always possible.

I remember coming across a quad-splitscreen view of Diablo 2 showing four bots speedhacked to maximum, routed over proxies to circumvent limits on opening games, complete with map-hack and back-dated quit packages to prevent them from ever dying, teleporting around at such inhuman speed that an uninformed viewer cannot even see what is going on. And that's a game that actually got multiple "anti-cheat fixes" and had tiny item prices!

Sure, if anti-cheat watchdogs are around, the hacks will be much more subtle. Like a random drift of the cross-hair toward enemy heads, which sometimes but not always kicks in. This can be fine-tuned to make a player strong enough for profit, but just still believable as a human. I don't know of any way to counteract such a method.

Battlefield 2 would be awesome :D (Although CSS would probably be easier)

You are absolutely right. That is why I allow users to cheat. If everyone is cheating then fairly. If I prohibit cheats, the honest players will be victims.
When someone cheating, I cheating too. believe me, if someone was playing quite a long time, he can recognize who is cheating. As yet, only one player I caught cheating. Everyone plays honestly at the moment (except Ga .... He likes radar;))
Cheating destroys the fun. If you cheat, expect that others will cheat. You have a choice, play fairly with pleasure, or bored cheating. Opportunities will always be balanced

If you cheat, I cheat too, these are the rules :) It may be that two or more players will be against you when you cheat. Wallhack is funny, but wasted ammo on the walls, the other players think you crazy :) Wallhack sucks. This is a more difficult game, because from a distance you think you can actually to aim the enemy and he is behind the wall in fact.

I dont like the idea of cheating. Its not the skill of FPS that earns you bitcoins but the fast that some program is doing it for you (like mining lol)

I'd like a skill game like CSS for something like this. Urban terror is a huge spray and pray fest, and just by watching videos of it I dont feel like playing it.

I am willing to play, but only without cheating. I played almost every FPS last 15 years and never cheat. I don't think it gives anything more just ruin things. I made an account and waiting to see people ready to play without cheating. I don't have knowledge in this area and I am sure there will always be better cheater than me, so I don\t want to play like this. On the other hand, I've seen enough skilled players which are capable of playing against cheaters and be able to beat them despite absence of cheat. I want to be like that but need to see people willing to play without cheating.

Then come and play, we dont cheat :)

Many people also want to play without cheating. Soon we will do white and black list of players. If during games are available: Greedi, Bitmar, Garr255 you can play safely. Cheaters will be banned if other players will not want to play with them. Honest players can play together against a player who cheats.

You should have a player count on the site!
