Hey guys,

I would like to ask this simple question :

If I have 2BTC it is better to say "two bitcoin" or "two bitcoins"  ?  I know it's a stupid question , but I'm interested to know it.

It's pretty easy: "two bitcoins" plural. The same rule as saying "I've got two coins" not "two coin"

For you it is better to say "bitcoins" but for me it is not such, because for me it is equal to say bitcoin  also if I have 1 or 100. However thanks for your contribution.

Currency systems are usually singulare tantum, e.g. its 1 Euro, 2 Euro, etc. There just is no plural of the word even though its commonly used as Euros. The word "Euros" would refer to a number of coins, but not the value the currency represents. All that aside, Bitcoin has no central authority that can just define the grammatical rules for the words refering to it.

bitcoin.org refers [1] to several coins as bitcoins

You have 2 BTC.

If I remember correctly, "Bitcoin" was supposed to be the name of the network/project/app and "BTC" the name of the currency unit.

1 Bitcoin
2 Bitcoins

Easy.

1 Euro
2 Euros

Same with all the currencies.

The difference between

"For you, 10 dollar"

and

"For you, 10 dollars"


Is that one sounds like a regular mercantile transaction, and the other sounds like a whore soliciting.

Bitcoin or Bitcoins is the same meaning and the value is the same, just different one letter only. I was not really thinking about it but if given a choice, I choose Bitcoins ;D

I would say "two bitcoins" to the OP's question.

On the parallel chat I thought things had settled to:

The Bitcoin protocol.
One bitcoin.
Two bitcoins.

I lol'd so hard at this. But yeah, as others have mentioned, it's up to you, although it seems like it's typically referred to as BitCoins when referred to plurally, at least in America.

in english where is no is only singular and plural. 2 are plural. there are few languages where 2 are nor singular nor plural. :)

1 Bitcoin
2 Bitcoina
3 or more Bitkoini

English have just
1 Bitcoin
2 or more Bitcoins

Personally I would say, "I have 2 bitcoin"...
Here is my reasoning:
         Bitcoin is the type of currency and you are just stating an amount with it... you wouldn't say that you have $500 USDs so I don't see why you would say you have 2 bitcoins... I think this is a matter of opinion. OP you should make a poll.

I get the argument that:

1 Dollar and 2 Dollars

is very similar too:

1 Bitcoin and 2 Bitcoins

If that's the case then what will someone use on a fraction of a bitcoin? For example:

I needs 0.02 bitcoins for this transaction. Vs. I needs 0.02 bitcoin for this transaction.  ?

Because in that sense there is multiple numbers, even though it is not more than one bitcoin.

I would say two bitcoins.
