Title: Bitmain Antminer S4 has Arrived.
Post by: conspiracyjo2kX on December 03, 2014, 09:50:55 PM
All,

My Bitmain Antminer S4 arrived yesterday, and I am very anxious to open the box and get it set up.

I already have 3 USB dualminers running on my PC, currently mining altcoins. It took me forever and a day to figure out what I need to do in order to get it working properly.

CGMINER - unsuccessful in setting it up
CPUMINER - minor success in setting up, it would receive work from the pool, but the pool wouldn't display the work it was doing.
BFGMINER - better success than CPUMINER, I was able to connect but It wouldn't register all the miners connected to my PC.
MULTIMINER - SUCCESS! I sure am thankful for these GUI Miners. Once I went to the http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/D2XX.htm (http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/D2XX.htm) website and re-installed the drivers this way rather than just connecting the USBs and having them load the drivers themselves. It worked, all 3 Miners are successfully mining scrypt altcoins. Going thru Multiminer I was able to locate the command it used with BFGMINER, I wasn't selecting my COM ports with dualminer@COM7

If anyone has any pointers in setting up an AntMiner S4 please share a few tips, so that this will be rather quick set up. In the end I don't mind figuring it our for myself. Just seeing if someone is willing to share some knowledge.

There is a manual on Bitmain's website.  Also they are very easy to set, if you know pool information.  Set it and almost forget it so easy.

Antminers S4 setup is just like the Antminer S1, S2, S3 setup.

After connected to power on the network, there's usually there's a default IP set to get to the web interface on a browser (192.168.1.99), and then you just enter your pool info.  Here's what the page looks like where you'd enter into it :

Click Save, and you should start seeing your miner shares growing, and you're off and mining.  Good luck.
