Title: Anyone else staying awake for the launch?
Post by: Vod on December 04, 2014, 09:03:33 AM
The new Orion Test Flight is launching at 5am EST.

I'm staying awake for the launch.  This is the first step to Mars!

Cool, didn't know about this flight test launch before. I'm not sure if it's worth staying up for. You could always watch it on Youtube later. :)

Cool. I'm awake because I can't fall asleep, but this makes my night more interesting.

I got to be awake. I can't let them destroy my house with that.

I will be watching from Mars...

The un-crewed Orion will orbit 3,600 miles above Earth before splashing down in the Pacific. Orion is being designed to carry astronauts on exploration missions into deep space, including a trip to an asteroid and eventually to Mars.

Launch is currently on hold. The launch team is working through options for setting a new liftoff time following the violation of ground wind rules. The launch window extends until 9:44 a.m. EST.

Wait. Hold up... I didn't know NASA was still kicking away. This is all news to me.

Vod, you should dress up as a woman with a dress and wave a handkerchief while crying when they launch.

I'm too far away.  No cameras around me.  :-\

Lol well shit. Have fun with the launch, hopefully it doesn't misfire and blow you up... NASA is known for their "hiccups".

Too soon? Or not soon enough?

You're right - it's on hold again due to wind conditions!   :D

Today's launch of NASA's new Orion spacecraft on a test flight is on hold due to a wind violation. There are no technical issues. Today's launch window extends until 9:44 a.m. EST.

Well, with 175,000 people watching on NASA TV, they cancelled the launch due to high winds.   :(

They will try again tomorrow!
