Title: How to get into the Default Trust list?
Post by: gkv9 on December 06, 2014, 05:23:57 PM
I have been a member here and getting trust too from good members here... Also, have put them into my Default Trust list, but I don't know how can I get better Depth in the same and get in the Default Trust list...  ???

Also, I would like to know that what's that green number after your nickname? How to get it? And what's the logic behind it?

Your thoughts would be much appreciated... :)

If your trust depth is set to 2 (the default), you will trust feedback by people you trust, people they trust, and people they trust. I might change the default in the future; we'll see how this works. Your trust list is public.

You can only get put on defaulttrust if an existing member deems you trustworthy and responsible enough to be on there. And you get 'green' trust from getting feedback from default trust members.

Thanks for the same, Sir... I still didn't get it though as it may take some time for me to understand it better, but I understood it a bit.

Dear Sir,
As you said, I already got a trust from a member who is under Default Trust, I got trust from marcotheminer. Also, I have put him under my Default Trust list, so why don't I still get a green 1 after my nick?

"marcotheminer" isn't in the DefaultTrust network -> you don't get a green trust.

Ohk, my bad... Seems that I can see his name under the DefaultTrust because I added him in my DefaultTrust, am I right?

Yes, if you remove his name you will see the default list, without any personal preferences.

Thanks for the quick reply...

Can you please let me know if it is possible for me to not showing trust? I mean I have seen many accounts with no "Trust" thing below their Activity... How is it possible? Is it a forum setting or something else?

I have heard somewhere on this forum only that if you don't show your "Trust" under your nick, then you will get more trusted here than the ones who show it, is it true?

The thing is that you don't see the trust in every sub-board. But you can't disable it for every sub-board.

The one and only setting you can adjust according to the trust is:

No problem. Feel free to ask anything else. It's a little bit tricky to understand, but I think you got it now ;)

I'm not in default trust thus my feedback doesn't weigh as much. Including me in your trust list will increase my trust weight though (as seen when you're logged in)

See this list:

"marcotheminer" isn't in the DefaultTrust network -> you don't get a green trust.

But won't him show as trusted if the depth setting is 2(the default value)

I also don't understand this logic regarding depth... Is it possible for us to set it or it depends upon the trust only that we get from people in the DefaultTrust list?

You can set it up to four (I think) but only you will see that depth as everybody else will be different depending on their choice, though the default depth is two and that's what most people will use and see.

You're right. The maximum trust depth used to be 3, but now it is 4.

Where can I find the settings for the same? I've checked everything from Look & Layout Preferences to Settings, but didn't find it anywhere.

Just click on your trust and you'll find it in the settings there next to post new feedback.

Got it Sir, thanks for the same... I have one more question, Sir.

My BCT account was created last December on 25th, so it's nearly a year old, but due to a small no-post gap, I wasn't able to increase my activity else my account would have been at Sr. Member level currently... I read somewhere on this forum only that if I make lots of posts, not spam or troll, but meaningful & constructive posts, then I will have my activity automatically increased and the (remaining) time during which I didn't post will be covered and I may become a Sr. member the same day, is it true?

No. The 'constructiveness' of your posts is largely irrelevant and if you don't post in each activity period you will lose those points forever. You'll be a Senior on the 3rd of March providing you post in every period up till then.

You meant all of my posts are futile? Thanks though for the answer Sir... :)

I'm not sure what you mean by that. It would be futile posting many posts in an attempt to gain Senior status as it wont happen whether they were constructive or unconstructive posts. If you miss posting in the periods you miss out on those points forever and the only way to rank up is collect enough points in the future.

Oh, now I got it, and sorry I misunderstood... I thought something else, but... Thanks for clarifying it in a kind manner...
And yes, I ain't posting to get Sr. Member status as I knew that I won't get it, it's just that I wanted to confirm it and so I asked it here as you are the staff member and now, it's all clear... I will post more questions in future if I have any... ;D

First rule of the default trust list. Don't ask to be on the default trust list.

+1.

Be active in forum and give correct trust feedback to users. Trade things, if you can. After sometime you will be trusted by someone, and you will be in Ssub-DefaultTrust list(level deep >1). If theymos/Badbear thinks you can be trusted, you will be added to main DF list. :)

Okay got it, and it's that I didn't ask anyone in this thread to put me into their DefaultTrust list, it's just that I needed some knowledge regarding the same as it was just knocking my mind everytime whenever it came to the trust thing...
