blockchain.info's wallet service is still operational:
https://blockchain.info/wallet

I'm not sure why it was taken off of bitcoin.org. That page appears to have been recently updated, maybe it was removed by mistake.

Yeah OP's right.
and only blockchain has removed from https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

mistake or intentional? ???

This is pretty bad. Is bitcoin.org asking for payment to get listed, which blockchain.info denied to pay ? I think blockchain.info is more popular among bitcoiners than bitcoin.org and hence they refused to pay. In alexa rank also blockchain.info is in far better position than bitcoin.org.

Who cares so long as the blockchain service continues. Let's be wary of running with unsubstantiated conspiracy theories here...

Most important, that blockchain is working.

I've always thought they were one of the most popular web wallets, hopefully blockchain.info will address the reasons for being unlisted.

Yeah, if not for this thread I would not have noticed it has been removed from bitcoin.org. It suspect it could be due to the security concerns that took place recently about weeks ago. Also I can see that there are new wallet additions as well like for instance mSIGNA. Oh, my it has been some time since I last been to that site so it's good to see new changes.

The reddit threads are pretty interesting, thanks ikydesu.  Basically they suggest that blockchain.info would be listed if it applied today due to security concerns.  The posts the reddits point to lay the issues out pretty clearly.  It looks like BCI has responded to some of them but others are unaddressed and so they are off the list for the time being.

That's very unlikely due to an issue on blockchain.info's end. People lose coins because of their own fault most of the time. Blockchain.info seems to be probably the most secure of all web wallets so not sure why it's been delisted exactly. If people losing coins through their own lack of security is a reason to remove them then best remove all the others and any exchanges they recommend as well.

LOL

I don't want to use the word dumb, but well some people did put hundreds of bitcoin in their mtgox account and they are all gone...

BTW, a person lost 633 bitcoin using Tor on his blockchain.info wallet. You can search the thread in "Bitcoin Discussion".

Most of the time, yes. But there are at least two improvements blockchain.info should/could do in my opinions.
1. Make it a deterministic wallet to prevent losses like http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2ohnb8/how_i_lost_15_btc_on_blockchaininfo_without_my/

2. Change how 2FA works for blockchain.info, as someone discuss it in https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=876492.msg9695880#msg9695880

Yeah i don't know if that's their own fault or what, but my experience using BCI is indeed something was wrong, a few weeks ago, I've check to my BCI wallet and everything becomes zero, my history and my balance turned into zero, grotesque. And i ever lost BTC, i feel put my wallet safely but my btc could still be stolen.

Even if your account was hacked, or your bitcoin stolen, I think you should still see a out-going transaction in your history.

Have you contacted their support, and what are their explanations?

Blockchain.info has been removed because it's not considered secure enough. This is because you do not control the private keys.

Intentional.

They discussed that the 'security' wasn't strong enough.. Even though users can make it extremely strong themselves by using 2fa and verification.

That's funny. Blockchain,.info has some of the best security practices and features from what I've seen. They've always been known to be one of the most trusted online wallets. I wonder if this is part of a smear campaign or something? Do companies have to pay to get mentioned on their site? I know they do to become an official partner of the Foundation or something.

You can think that the online Bitcoin wallet service provider with the most wallets, would be a bit more careful.
http://blog.blockchain.com/2014/12/08/blockchain-info-security-disclosure/

I wonder what Andreas, will say about this..

Being the biggest, certainly puts a target on your site, and it must be a nightmare to keep hackers from hacking into the wallets.

I keep nearly no coins in online wallets, for that reason. {Sweep a paper wallet, if you want to buy something big, otherwise leave it in cold storage}

This is why I don't get all the fuss. Blockchain.info seems to be the most trusted and reliable web wallet out there. In fact, I don't trust many others. The recent hackings are down to users own security or problems logging in via tor.

I don't think BCI wallet is that bad. It is convenient and quite safe if a user has strong password and common sense. Delisting is a good thing for us because it forces BCI to step up it's security.

Well but there has to be some reason behind this, from what i've found there has been some disscussion about their low security but they were never hacked were they? Also the mentioned things have already been fixed as far as i know.

Reason behind what? The delisting from the foundation? I think there's more to it than the seemingly non-existant 'security concerns' that's for sure.

I've been wondering that myself.

Around Thanksgiving I noticed a number of reposts being made on reddit about "security issues" from 2013, more than one relayed a tale of exit nodes being exploited as a result of Tor use.

I'm sure there have been problems (as exists with any online endeavor) but this looks like a concentrated campaign to discredit blockchain.info.

This may not be directly related to the de-listing, but is related to blockchain.info security level.

Blockchain.info wallet users have lost hundreds of bitcoin in the last 2 days due to https://github.com/blockchain/My-Wallet/commit/98d5a7ca59ef04d06ac6aee468634b12975a0f5c

Fortunately, someone noticed the bug, took the bitcoin temporarily to keep it safe from bad guys and returned 255 btc to blockchain.info. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=581411.msg9791998#msg9791998

It is true that blockchain.info don't have your private keys normally, but their bugs could still make you lose your bitcoin.

What appears to have happened is bc.info rolled out a new update to address some of the security issues pointed out by the bitcoin.org people and the new update introduced a RNG bug, which is REALLY bad and something that should NOT have slipped through, but in their defense RNG bugs aren't something you can easily test for.

BC.info are taking full responsibility and reimbursing everyone affected so kudos for that, but they should have stricter code audits and procedures in place to prevent bonehead mistakes like this in the future.

Blockchain.info has had some security issues recently and people have lost their Bitcoins.
See this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=581411.0

In short, there is a bug in how blockchain.info generates BTC addresses, so it is possible for someone else to get hold of your private keys and steal your BTC.

That's why it was removed from listing.

I for one wouldn't trust ANY online wallet. Better to keep all funds on cold wallet.

The removal happened before that incident.

johoe exposed the issue in August last year, so this goes long back.

There is no vacation just check it, the site is normaly online rofl.
What I'm trying to say was, blockchain.info isn't listed on bitcoin.org.
But it will be back on that list, soon.

What I meant by "on vacation" was blockchain.info has been unlisted on bitcoin.org for being not secure enough.

It's a 60 day timeout, and may be re-listed depending on what improvements have been rolled out.

They are not listed on bitcoin.org and will be re-listed back on bitcoin.org after their website is safe enough.(It sounds like they are on vacation...to me.)

That is still available

Try logging in by your identifier and password

Did you just read the thread title lol?

People here are talking about blockchain.info has been delisted from https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet, but not about the disappearance of the wallet service.

Blockr is a good block explorer, but it doesn't offer a wallet service at all.
Since the thread is about web wallet service, Green Address or BitGo are better substitutes.

Not sure if the security on the blockchain wallet is compromised because I've never lost any btc in there. If ever your account was hacked by another person, it will show in your history of your wallet.

Never knew that the wallet service of blockchain is removed from bitcoin.org
