Title: Nvidia CUDA + AMD OpenCL in the same machine?
Post by: PcChip on May 18, 2011, 11:29:10 PM
Hi guys,

Just got into mining a few days ago (from the Reddit post), and I've been mining on my main video card (used for gaming & dual monitors) GTX570 (112.5 Mh/s),
but I am thinking about pulling my brother's old 4870 out of the closet and mining on that as well, however I do not know what to expect from trying to install and use
an AMD product for OpenCL alongside my main NVidia card with CUDA.

Has anyone ever experimented with this combination and had any success?

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

This works fine, I'm currently running a GTX 580 and 2 5870s in my main system. CUDA will work exactly as before, but for OpenCL you will need to specify the OpenCL platform that the miner should use.

Hi jedi95, how were you able to accomplish that? I originally had a GTX470 on my computer mining at around 70 Mhash/s and when I added a 5830 to the board it messed everything over, I wasn't able to get both cards running at the same time, I couldn't even use one for mining and one for display...any help is appreciated :)

I tried for about an hour and could not get it working either, the 4870 would not show up in any OpenCL list even after installing all AMD software correctly.

I decided to just put the 4870 into the living room computer and pull out its 8800gt, and now plan to put the 8800gt alongside my GTX570 and see if I can CUDA mine on both at the same time.
