Hello Bitcoiners,
I saw almost 70% of Bitcoiners doesn't know how to setup your own Faucet and run it. So Today, I am their to help you out with a fully explained tutorial about how to start your own faucet.

Ready? Lets go!
We will do this tutorial step by step. So now we begin with Step 1!

Step 1
First of all open www.faucetbox.com and click Faucet Script, then download it and save it on your desktop.

Step 2
Now, go to www.000webhost.com and click Sign up.
Now you see their will be option to select your domain, please select "or, I will choose your free subdomain (recommended)".
Enter your domain name you want, could be any for the tutorial.
Now enter your credential details and click Create my Account.

Step 3
Now confirm your email and once confirmed, your domain will be working.
Now after confirming the email, click refresh status and if its properly confirmed, then click go to cPanel.

Step 4
Click on MySQL option and enter these details:
MySQL database name: type faucet
MySQL user name: again type faucet
Password for MySQL user: here type a password
Enter password again: retype the password

and click create Database!
Copy the details shown in a notepad.
Now click back to control panel.

Now, Open your faucet script folder (extract it if not done yet) and open config.php file with notepad.
You have to edit these settings :
$dbhost = "localhost";
$dbuser = "test_faucet";
$dbpass = "test_pass";
$dbname = "test_faucet";

TO

$dbhost = "the host link which you copied earlier (Ex: mysql.000webhost.com)";
$dbuser = "your MYSQL username";
$dbpass = "your password";
$dbname = "Your Mysql Database name";

and click SAVE.

Step 5
Go Back to Control Panel and Scroll down and find File Manager, then it will open a new window, Enter your login password.
Once a new window is open click Public_Html folder.

Step 6
Now open your faucetinabox folder and select all files (CTRL+A) and make them .zip file and name it faucet.
You will see a .zip file the folder, now cut the file and paste it on the desktop.

Step 7
Now go back to your browser, click Browse button on the right side.
Select the faucet.zip we just saved on the desktop and upload it by clicking on a green tick on the left side.

Step 8
Now once files are uploaded, open your website in a new tab.
You will see a page with a password. save the password and then click continue.

Step 9
Now enter that password in this box.
Your Admin Page will come.

Step 10
Go back to www.faucetbox.com and Register or Login.
Once you login or register, you will see a API Key.
Copy the Key and go back to your faucet's admin page.
Enter your API key in the Admin Page.

Step 11
Select Current BTC.
Now time to get a Captcha Service, select reCaptcha and then click "get your keys here".
A new page will open, enter label as : Your Faucet name and in the next box enter your domain name without (www or http)
and then click Register.

Step 12
Now you will see two keys provided.
First copy the Site Key and go back to your Admin Page and put the copied key in "reCaptcha Public Key" section.
Now copy the Secret Key and go back to your Admin Page and put the copied key in "reCaptcha Private Key" section.

Step 13
Time to setup reward, its the amount of bitcoins you want to give user everytime the claim.
You can enter like "50, 100, 200, 500" which means that randomly user will get between 50 to 500.
You can edit it anytime.

Step 14
Now name your Faucet anything you want to and you can also add a slogan if you want to.
Now you see timer which means that after how many minutes a user can claim a reward. by default its 180 min = 3 Hours.
You can edit it anytime.

Step 15
Now you can setup referral earning percentage, put 0 to disable the referral system.

Step 16
Now  time to setup your Faucet Design. Choose your colors and stuff you want to.

Step 17
You see blank boxes "Top Box, Left Box, Right Box" these are basically box in your faucet to put ads or any other link.
I will simply put my tutorial link their. You can keep them blank if you want.

Step 18
Now, Pages. You can create any page like statistics page for your faucet or any other page. Leave it if you dont want to create a page.

Step 19
Finally, Click Save.
Open your website and you got a faucet! My Faucet - http://faucet-tutorial.site11.com

Step 20
You see Balance: N/A satoshi?? Which means 0 Bitcoins.. Yup!
Go to faucetbox.com again and login if required.

Once logged in, you see your Dashboard.
Scroll down and in front of Bitcoins, you see click Activate button.

Click on the Activate Button and copy the bitcoin wallet address.
Open your wallet and send minimum 0.001 Bitcoins to the wallet to update your faucet balance.

Step 21
Once you deposited and got 1 confirmation, you are ready to share your faucet address! :D

This tutorial is pretty nice! It pretty much covered everything.

Only thing I will say is that you could include more free hosting, http://www.hostinger.com is a pretty good one. I've had better experiences with them than 000webhost.

my only concern is, since it rely on the faucetbox site to work constantly, is there a day that it crashes? resulting my site to crash if i created my faucet.

just curious how often do you change the reward amount?

i mean like, i dont wana go broke handing out free bitcoin, but I do need people to stay on my faucet. whats a fair amount as a starter site?

At first, go for atleast 300 sat per 15-20 mins. Then you can increase the time to 30 mins and increase the reward to 500 sat. It would be good enough to get people. But if your faucet has good popularity, paying upto 1000+ won't do any adverse affect. :)

eventually you need some sort of advertiser revenue or else its a shipping ship. regardless of how much is rewarded, unless you can make up for it some way.

good detailed steps, except how do we even comepte with freebitcoin which is like the oldest faucet out there.

well thats pretty much any business theres going to be competition, you just have match their service.

in other words, first you need to fill faucet and then expect ad revenue ..  :)

but what if you still dont get ad revenue lol. i only say this because most faucet users like to rely on just one faucet and be their longest user as long it pays out.

well then youre just shit out of luck. best you can do would be selling the site for bitcoin or try to salvage it in some other way.

but at that point, im pretty sure there would be a certain amount of user base to support it.

when I made my faucet, I had a lot of work, and if not for a help (again thank ryukamiho), I think it would have only ended after the tutorial of this topic.

With this tutorial, we will have (or are already having) a large increase from the taps, but many will not survive !!

would not it be interesting, who has esperiencia with puplicidades, give some tips of how to get a good publicist return, giving at least to keep the tap balance

Hey I was trying to make my own faucet and ran into a bit of problem. On Step 6 it told me to make all my files .zip files. I CTRL+A then edited it to .zip but what happened was that it stayed as .php for all of them. Can someone explain?

If you have already bought a domain name, you can host it on sites such as hostgator, godaddy etc... . I think it can be hosted in 00webhost too. :) Godaddy is my favourite place to buy a domain name, it suggests similar names.


You understanded it in a different way, my friend. Install 7zip(one of the best software out there) and install it. After that, select all your files using mouse(right click -> select all) or keyboard(Ctrl+a). Then, right click and point over 7zip and then choose Add to "Archive.zip" [1]. After it is compressed, an Archive.zip file will be created - rename it if you want.

[1] If you know about compressing and all, you can choose Add to archive... to get more options like compression level, method, encryption, splitting etc...


Care to explain? Bandwich or support or any other? I saw good reviews about them but it was made many months ago.

copy the given line, open your mysql database with PHPadmin and click SQL.
paste the copied line and click ok.

again open the admin page and copy ur new password.

Depends on how your traffic is generated. Free traffic generators provide great exposure and traffic.

Does anyone know what happens if you migrate your bitcoin faucet hosting to a new host and create a new database instead of using the old one?

What are the consequences, if there are any? I don't think there will be data loss, as bitcoin faucets don't need passwords, etc, but just wanted to make sure.

I backed up my whole faucet site except my database, which I'm kicking myself for right now. I'm trying to get in touch with my hosting provider, but he doesn't check the forum often, so I'm temporarily migrating to a new host. I can easily back up everything, and set up a new database, but I want to know if there are any consequences in switching a faucet database. Thanks!

I suspect the hardest part of running a faucet has to be the cheaters / theft. I hope the code is good and the funds placed in appropiate wallets.

If you're using a secure script, which most faucet scripts are, theft isn't much of a worry. Bots will always be there, but they are a small minority.
