Title: [ANN] Bit-Pay introduces "Touch to Pay" for mobile and desktop wallets
Post by: BitPay Business Solutions on June 22, 2012, 12:05:44 AM
Bit-Pay has now incorporated the standard bitcoin: URI into our desktop and mobile invoices, for one-click payments from the most popular wallet apps.

By clicking on the "Touch to Pay" link on the invoice, if you have a bitcoin client or app that has registered the bitcoin: protocol, it will automatically launch a Send Bitcoins command and pre-fill in the amount and the bitcoin address.  All you have to do is press SEND in your wallet.  No more copy and paste!  No more fat-fingering the amount!

This feature has been tested and verified with the following wallets:

PC:  MultiBit, Armory
Android:  BitcoinSpinner, Bitcoin Wallet, Blockchain Wallet
Apple:  Blockchain Wallet

EDIT:  Try it with your wallet!  Click the blue "Touch to Pay" button on this page.  http://lovebitcoins.org/developers.html (http://lovebitcoins.org/developers.html)

If you are a wallet developer and your wallet supports the bitcoin: URI protocol please contact us for testing.

Very cool!  Where is a good "sample" store that I can try out with my phone?

Great integration work by Bit-Pay.
Another step forward in making bitcoin easier to use.

yep, it works really smooth and fast.  The cabbie gets the payment alert and then he's off driving the next customer.  The processing and currency conversion and bank transfers are all automated.  It's nice!

the customer pays first?

would be neat if you could setup some sort of page to really initiate it. like for example, Bob in Chicago wants to taxi people for Bitcoins. you provide a purchasable web template which is used with your software. and it's connected to a Bitcoin taxi network.. I know, I'm not articulating this very clearly. we really got to work together in this community. bring ideas and know-how together.. then implement this world free of big brother (or should we just say BIG LIAR) taking his undue share.

if its a flat-rate ride, the customer can pay at any time.  if its a metered ride, the customer has to pay at the end.

Our tools provide a way for a cabbie to collect a payment in the vehicle, quickly and easily.

The minimum requirement is a phone that can receive text messages.  But a smart phone is 3G/4G is better.  And of course the customer needs a mobile bitcoin wallet.

Love it! I like how bitcoin popularity is exploding at the moment, and that competition inspires innovation and improvements.

whoever actually followed through and clicked the SEND button, thank you.  I got a text message alert on my phone saying I've received $0.08 USD.  (The demo tester uses the bitcoin address for my Deposit Card)  Thanks!

Thanks for giving my site this capability!  Now we just need the default bitcoin.org client to support it.

Your blue link from the page (http://lovebitcoins.org/developers.html)

Says "firefox does not know how to open this link"

You need to have a bitcoin client to register that it understands the 'bitcoin' protocol.
Both Armory and MultiBit do this.

That way when you try to open the bitcoin link in Firefox it can be dispatched to the right program to deal with it.
