Title: I NEED HELP WITH TERMS LIKE IPO AND ICO
Post by: cryptogator on December 13, 2014, 02:03:54 PM
There are so many terms out there that people use like IPO,  FUD , and ICO. I think I know what IPO means(initial public offering) but terms like FUD and ICO, I have know idea.

Can someone explain them and maybe add any other frequently used terms? This topic could be a good reference for newbies like me.

 FUD (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=FUD) ::

 fear, uncertainty and doubt
don't believe Microsoft's FUD -- Mozilla is off the hook

ICO ::

Initial Coin Offering

ICO = IPO ... same damn thing.

There's also an ITO (initial token offering).

Suppose more new ones will be introduced to help people think they can skirt the law.

A simple google search could help.

IPO (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=IPO)
FUD (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=FUD)
HODL (http://hope.ly/1pOJ2Vm)

All these terms mean the same thing and devs keep inventing new names because they risk prosecution from the US government for selling unregistered securities if they hold an IPO. They think calling it a different name can save them from prosecution.

Yep, ITO is the newest one to keep the regulators away. "It isn't coin (money), it's just a token.

And also  ISO:

Initial share offer,

At the end it is always the same thing.

FUD refers to
"fear, uncertainty and doubt"
or in some cases
"fully unaware dumbness"

ICO/IPO/ITO/presale
is just the scam-tag. You buy these coins to get dumped on later.
