Title: Bitcoin QT problems
Post by: crazyearner on December 13, 2014, 09:39:47 PM
So trying to re download blockchain and it keeps freezing or locking u and having to close and re open client to continue downloading. When I get to about 60% downloaded it then crashes and says would you like to re index blockchain and this keeps on happening even tho I have not even put my old wallet details into it.

Deleted everything re downloaded and continue to get the same sort of problems with it even tho I know its the latest build of QT and am getting nothing but problems with it also seeing its using a lot of resources maybe has a mem leak in it or something to be using over 3GB of ram

How much RAM do you have?  How much empty space is available on your harddrive?  Have you tried running 'Error checking'? (http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/6221-chkdsk-check-drive-errors-windows-8-a.html (http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/6221-chkdsk-check-drive-errors-windows-8-a.html))

Try 0.9.2.1 I had problems with 0.9.3 for 64 bit windows versions (different) as well. Reverting to a slightly older version fixed it.

have 16GB ram and 250GB SSD with 200GB space remaining on it.

0.9.2.1 will try to download this one and see how it works out.

Well managed to find the problem to it crashing or not downloading. Seems it was storing to another drive and found that hard drive to have errors on it that for some reason can not be fixed. Any recommendations to fixing hard drive errors using check disk says found errors and fixed but checked again and theirs still errors. Also tried to do check disk on next reboot and repairs upto about 10% and does not continue any more.

The disk hardware itself (platter, heads) might be malfunctioning. Make a backup and replace the disk.

Gonna take some time to back up 2.4TB of data and need to get another HDD. Everything on it tho is accessable and checked with a few programs for its heath and surface seems fine but then again I don't trust it need to find something solid
