Title: Interviews for Bitcoin Magazine
Post by: Phinnaeus Gage on June 23, 2012, 03:58:01 PM
This thread will garner individual names for prospects we would like to see interviewed for inclusion in subsequent Bitcoin Magazine issues.

To get the ball a rollin', I'll start and maintain a list so that Matthew, et al., could have a handy place to view the notables. The names will be linked to some webpage to get the editor's created juices a flowin'. As time goes on, I may reshuffle the list, having names gravitate to the top if intense interest ensues.

Needless to say, any suggested names should be connected with BTCitcoin in some way or fashion but, of course, cryptographist may also be considered. I feel that including Satoshi Nakamoto to the list would serve no real world purpose. I hope you understand.

A couple more, and there'll be talk of having a convention in Pattaya. I'm going to update the list now, and might as well put Satoshi Nakamoto at the top.

Alpaca Sock Seller, that OP can't seem to find: http://www.grasshillalpacas.com/alpacaproductsforbitcoinoffer.html

Is this what you were looking for? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=30.0

I think it would be nice to see an ad in Bitcoin Magazine by Grass Hill Alpacas, with them, once again, accepting BTC as payment, coupled with a blurb on their site such as "As Seen in Bitcoin Magazine". Perhaps the editors of Bitcoin Magazine can approach them with such a proposition, offering them a reduced ad rate.

I will now update the OP for Matthew and the other editors of Bitcoin Magazine.

Mike Masnick of Techdirt. I would be surprised if he didn't already lurk here, though interested if he has a forum account I've encountered before. Used to read  Techdirt religiously when I had time. Now, I browse the forum, write up stuff in Google Docs, occasionally glance at daughter to make sure she's not swallowing knives, and that's about it. Seriously... I must spend something like 4 hours a day on this forum, now - it's insane.

Paco Ahlgren and interview about he's book Discipline

I just ordered this book through a new bookstore in town (we now have two). It cost me twice as much to order through her via Amazon than if I would have done it myself, but wanted to patronize the new establishment. This was done while I was donating over 1,000 used books to her for her to sell and keep the profit. Perhaps, I should quit doing shit like that and hope that Discipline helps me in that regard.

Could somebody please tell me again why I'm doing this for Matthew and Bitcoin Magazine? Also, why am I going to start a new thread relating to Bitcoin Magazine?

I find it hilarious that people are getting nominated who have made no significant contribution to anything Bitcoin related other than being someone well known on this forum, I am sure Barnes and Noble customers are dying to hear more about gigavps's many mining rigs!

my nominations:

casacius <--- creator of the first and best Physical Bitcoin

EldenTyrell <--- creator of the innovative Tricone Mining bitstream

ckvolias <--- developer of cgminer

Slush <--- creator of one of the first bitcoin mining pools

Bitlane (give him is own column!)  <-- I mean hey if your going to nominate people for popularity at least nominate someone interesting

As the noted catalyst responsible for the recent Bitcoin Savings & Trust meltdown, I would like the chance to be nominated for an interview, during which time I can further plug the add space I plan to buy in an upcoming issue to 'air my grievances' about a certain TRENDON SHAVERS of McKINNEY, TEXAS, USA.

From what I understand, it's a fake, or 'Doing Business As' name anyway, so standard Libel liabilities would NOT apply.

Please consider me.

Yours Truly,

Roberto Gutierrez from AurumExchange. Often overlooked in the Bitcoin arena, he has been in the e-currency industry forever and has a lot of knowledge about the industry. Plus, I think he showed commitment to the Bitcoin community (and balls lol) by setting the Bitcoinica situation straight. Not a single penny would have been recovered without his post.

I didn't read the whole forum yet, but where's Mike Caldwell's name?  He's the owner of https://www.casascius.com/.  I've heard him interviewed before and think he would love to know more about his involvement with bitcoin (more than just his coins).

EDIT: I just went back out to his website.  I'd be curious how much he's made with his Casascius business so far; how much volume he's getting still.

I'm sure you could make enough questions for an interview.

I adjusted the list. Would make a fine cover story for Bitcoin Magazine's final issue. (rumor started here)

I cannot stress how much I agree with this.

Roberto and I, regardless being straight up competitors, have been doing business together since BitInstant entered the Bitcoin space 2 years ago.

Knowing almost everyone in the Bitcoin community, I would say Roberto is in my top 10 people I trust. He is directly responsible for keeping BitInstant running in times of crisis on more then one occasion.
Even though there was obvious monetary gain for us going down, Roberto did everything in his power to keep us up. I can't get into details, but he has taking large financial risk as well.
When BitInstant first opened, there was a small miscommunication btwn him and myself. He could easily have accused us, ect. but decided to take the high road by giving us benefit of the doubt before coming on these forums.

We probably speak at least twice a week, and our businesses rely on each other. I plan on further integrating BitInstant and AurumXChange together.

Finally, regarding the Bitcoinica fiasco: Roberto, Mark and myself did an internal investigation together as most of you know. The ethical behavior Roberto showed during the process was something not expected.

Roberto is a pillar of the Bitcoin community, and we should all cherish his presence.

-Charlie

Also it would be interesting to interview those involved with previous failed experiments in alternative currencies, to see the pitfalls and dangers that could affect Bitcoin in the future.

No, really, Bill Cosby. If anybody is to understand the delicate intricacies of Bitcoin, it would be the jell-o dealer himself.
Also, I find it comforting to hear the voice of passive non-hostile black men. Kinda like Morgan Freeman.
    Or the Allstate Insurance guy.

I demand the ability to purchase jell-o with bitcoin. Make it happen, Cosby.
