Here's a new website called "Am I Filthy Rich ?!? (http://amifilthyrich.com)" - it acts as a full node that lets you compare the amount of Bitcoins you have to all other addresses. Enjoy.

Hardly rich at all. I have less than 1btc. There are people here with hundreds of bitcoin spread across multiple addresses, the percentage given is inconclusive, but entertaining.


I just enter an arbitary number and there is no point in hacking my computer. There is no money on it.

That's why you don't have to enter your address you can just enter the number of coins you have

I only have 1 BTC and I am richer than 92.21% of bitcoiners, is the website calculation right?

It compares between addresses - it just means that 92.21% of people don't hold more than 1 BTC in one address. They may have multiple addresses.

You don't visit random web sites and tell them how much coin you own, do you?

That's why Tor exists. Makes you able to do fun stuff and care a bit less.

this wouldn't be very accurate seeing as people have many addresses.

That wasn't his point. It will still log your IP (though as above not much they could do with it).

Well TOR bleeds, you sometimes bleed real IP from 3rd party cookies. Then they've got your browser and OS, can scan for unpatched vulns and maybe any zero days they know. Then they're on your machine gathering info to steal anything they can from you.

It's pretty much the same thing as holding up a sign on your front lawn saying "I've got $5000 stuffed in the mattress" when the Google Streetview camera car comes by.

If that's true now, 10 years later all of us will be Larry Ellison :D Just save 10 BTC for the future guys 10 BTC! :)

3 Bitcoins makes me rich than other 95% people,well that's not a good idea for a currency,that means a few people control most of the Bitcoin(wealthy).

I don't need to use that site to tell me I'm not filthy rich. I have an amount I'm happy with and saving for the long term and if bitcoin does as well as I think it is going to do eventually I think I'll have a decent amount of money to live comfortably.

That just shows kind of a weakness, that less nummber of people hold most of the coins.

Assuming every bitcoiner holds their BTC on one address. This can't give an exact approximation. Just saying :D

Satoshi advice to use 1 address for transaction.

I guess most of the addresses are abandoned and not used ones, that is why the illusion of you being more rich than 90% of bitcoiners by having only 1 bitcoin

Site is junk.. it assumes that each new wallet address is owned by a new individual. If i had 10 blank wallets, it would consider me 10 different people.

BTW it's also interesting to see the total number of addresses that have balances - which is around 4m. That's a really small number in my opinion (considering each person has at least 2 addresses on average)

I think that it counts the unused addresses too, which is not really correct.
It gave me "YOU ARE RICHER THAN 42.93% OF BITCOINERS" and I have under 45k satoshi  ;D

It actually only uses bitcoin address with a balance if I remember correctly from when it was up.

Anyway, nobody should be surprised by the results. Very few people have been mining or have spent cash buying BTC. Most people have only been through a few faucets, and all they own is dust.

If they don't allow the data and stats to be seen without entering a Bitcoin address it sounds might suspect.

Awesome and kudos to the guy who created that website. From the result, it shows that I'm one of those filthy rich bitcoiners at the top 90% bracket.  ;D

PS for those guys viewing in firefox, you can try to load it in chrome. there's some rendering issue there but I think the dev should be able to easily fix it soon.

What's the issue exactly with Firefox ? What OS are you using ?

I should think addresses with spent bitcoins should be excluded.

So i dont think they are included

All addresses that have a non zero balance are included - this means dust addresses are included.

This made me feel better about myself :) but yes, there are so many addresses created that have nothing/a few satoshis in it, so technically you aren't that much richer compared to active bitcoiners.

I think I'll add an option to calculate only addresses above a certain number of Bitcoins soon so you'll have a clearer view

It looks like the majority of users simply have a wallet and have little to no funds.
