With BTC taking a hit and free falling in price, I wanted to see people's opinion on which coin is going to take off in 2015.  I need your advise to diversify my portfolio.  Thanks in advance for your help!

Bitcoin and Litecoin imo.
Litecoin blockhalving in 8 months.

Why bother with any alts unless they genuinely offer something different? I don't think any current ones offer any longterm potential so you may as well stick with bitcoin even though the price is currently low.

With most still linked to BTC, look to those that might break that dependency and become accessible on their own.

Avoid Ripple and Stellar unless you are wanting short term risk.. where is Paycoin now.. that was in same class no?..

Look then to Bitcoin2.0 that can be more than just an altcoin linked to BTC. BitShares; CounterParty; Mastercoin relaunch as Omni; even longshots like NXT and NEM might come alive, though those seem more amateur. Perhaps PeerShares will come alive, though maybe they've had their day with PPC.

Look also then to assets on those Bitcoin2.0 offerings.. BitShares bitUSD, bitGold, bitCNY, bitBTC etc are exciting; PeerTracks on BitShares; Koinify:GEMZ on CounterParty; MaidSafe via Mastercoin could go really big if they get it right. Ethereum will like see a sharp pump and dump initially, whatever they end up as.

and of course the one we've not seen yet which will make everyone rich overnight with no effort..

for you guys that have like 4 to 8 TB HDD and can mine BURST you can get like 40.000 to 50.000 BURST per month in mining and at the price of 170 180 stoshis each like 40 to 50 cents a 1Kburst its like 50*50 = 25 dollars a month max. in a pool i do advise pools soo its just 4 ot 8 dollars of watts to 25 dollaras of Burst exchanged in poloniex and i do that i get a 200 dollars a year very stabel income.

Stellar show great improvement in late 2014. So, invest in Stellar now before it's too late.

Look into CannabisCoin (CANN) it seems that it will have promising future in 2015 as they are already growing big supply of marijuana that is pegged 1 CANN = 1g of medical marijuana and patients can ALREADY exchange it in disp.

Its' really really cheap now, im stilling down when I bought at 9k sats, now at 5k, it shouldn't keep going down.. the volume is huge, i think it will go up.

its been through hell in 2014, but AeroME is weeks away from releasing one of the best projects I've ever seen in Crypto. Its a platform with a decentralized exchange, marketplace, merchant services, payroll service, smart loans and smart propery.... its everything that Bitbay was trying to be exempt its not a scam.

 Its trading really cheap on Bittrex, but as they build to a full release i think this coin will absolutely explode.

Viacoin & Clearinghouse are good long term investments but I don't know if they will take off in 2015.  Darkcoin is promising.  Archcoin is going to blow people away.  I think URO will make a comeback too.

Asking here doesn't help everyone gives you the coin they hold, you need someone in a neutral position which you won't find here.

This is exactly it. Personally I don't see much value in any alts, though that may change in the future. I'd just put your money in bitcoin as that's where all the money is going in to in actually developing it as a viable currency. I mean, the Winkelvi haven't invested in doge have they?

I suggest you look at Sterlingcoin as well, they have a great roadmap and useful features coming + the developers are trustworthy (you can even call them if you want).
Also, you might want to look at GEMZ, but I'd recommend you to wait on that, until they release the iOS app and get everything running without any bugs.

Gems looks interesting and to me seems one of the only coins with some actual potential and real world use. I think some sort of decentralized social network or messaging service could really take off as who doesn't want to get paid to use one?
