Title: Why can't I sink anymore. Post by: Valzador on December 23, 2014, 10:07:10 AM Doesn't anyone else find it strange that as a child without the skills of swimming you immediately sink in a pool, but when you're an adult who knows how to swim, it's impossible to sink even if you try.

That's because you've become aware of how water works and have learned, as a child you know fuck all about water so you don't know how to handle it and panic, that said, there are adults in life that don't really know how to swim still or haven't really been able. Pretty much because they weren't really taught properly, it happens all the time, for instance I have major gaps in my knowledge because of my shitty education but I have slowly been filling them again. Yea, but the fact that I can't even sink if I tried really mind fucks me. Title: Re: Why can't I sink anymore. Post by: Lethn on December 23, 2014, 10:17:01 AM Duh, it's because subconsciously you're afraid of drowning so your body reacts to that, it's like when you have something come towards your face and you think it might hit you automatically shield yourself, same thing, our brain pretty much develops defense mechanisms against that sort of thing as we get older.

Yea but why does our body do that. Why don't we have control of it. Title: Re: Why can't I sink anymore. Post by: activebiz on December 23, 2014, 10:59:53 AM depends on your body, You will float if you are lighter than an
equal volume of water. Usually folks with more fat float better. T Title: Re: Why can't I sink anymore. Post by: Lethn on December 23, 2014, 11:00:31 AM Well you can control it if you concentrate, but it's a pretty stupid thing to do to deliberately ignore your instincts sometimes, unless it's some kind of fear you've gained which would get you into more trouble if you pay attention to it.
Quote depends on your body, You will float if you are lighter than an equal volume of water. Usually folks with more fat float better. T This too, sometimes it's body volume :P Title: Re: Why can't I sink anymore. Post by: Vod on December 23, 2014, 10:26:46 PM Yea, but the fact that I can't even sink if I tried really mind fucks me. You can't sink because you make tiny automatic reflexes with your muscles to keep you afloat. Don't eat for a day then go tread water for a few hours. Trust me, you will eventually sink when you exhaust yourself. :) Title: Re: Why can't I sink anymore. Post by: (oYo) on December 23, 2014, 11:19:28 PM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmOTpIVxji8

2) Submerge yourself 3) Inhale (fill your lungs with water) You will sink. It may feel slightly unpleasant. It's not something you (want to) get used to. Title: Re: Why can't I sink anymore. I can choose to sink whenever I want when I'm underwater just by exhaling completely and diving down to the surface. I can't stay for very long down there however (max 30 seconds), since I'll need to come back up and take a breath. Title: Re: Why can't I sink anymore. You can't forget how to ride it.
