For convenience I feel like using the wallet from my laptop also on my phone. I put the encrypted MultiBit backup on my device and set a PIN for spending coins within the app. By storing this wallet on two separate devices my coins in this wallet are less prone to hardware failure, right? and If my phone gets stolen will my coins be safe if I use MultiBit on my laptop to transfer my coins to a new address as soon as possible? Yes your funds will be safe if you transfer it ASAP. Yes it's less prone to hardware failure but I recommend to store your private keys on a extra paper wallet (just for the worst-case scenario).
