Thousands of people created millions of thread in BitcoinTalk in 2014. Some of them were very interesting and enlightening. Some enriched us with its data and analysis. Standing on the end of 2014, whom do you think was the best poster of 2014 ? Please make your judgement by quality, not quantity ;)

For serious posts, I liked DeathandTaxes.  I learned the most
from him.  He hasn't been active last few months though.

My vote is for Superhitech. He is a great and entertaining poster. The faucet he runs, bitcoinshowers.com, is almost as good as freebitco.in.

stoped being active in August. I'd be more than happy to see him coming back!

I think it is interesting how many people think that Dank was the 'best' poster of 2014 despite the fact that he has been banned multiple times (and now apparently permanently).

I think they might be mixing up 'best poster' with 'most entertaining'. Even then there was probably more entertaining trolls/crazies than Dank this year.

arent they one in the same though -- why do most people come here?  To be entertained.

Hmm.  Back in 2012 and early 2013 people used to say that about me.  I suppose that I've dealt with so many trolls and have responded to the same basic questions so many times that I've become a bit jaded and snarky in recent months.  Perhaps I'll have to make a new year's resolution to be more polite.

You're still helpful and polite, mostly. lol  It's hard to spend very much time here and not have bitchy days though. Hilariousandco must be a priest or something because he's incredibly nice all the time. Despite that I like reading his posts.  ;D

Jokes apart, I don't think we can agree on who was best, but I can assure you the most entertaining was dank.
Man, his theories really amused me, especially that alien one.

You should read it when you have time to kill because it's a good read. The guy that wrote it has a talent for writing that should make it an easy read and it should be required reading for anyone thinking about putting their money in altcoins, shitty Bitcoin addons or ICOs. It's the story of how a small group of people can orchestrate a pump-n-dump con against investors world wide and the lack of honor among thieves.

300 posts a month? Are you joking? Bruno and I registered within a few days of each other 3 1/2 years ago. Him as Phinnaeus Gage and me as CornedBeefHash. I used to screw with him constantly for over posting because at one point I had just over 800 posts and he already had 7000+. The only reason I had 800 was that I spent a lot of time in Slush and Tycho's pool threads, organofcorti's Neighborhood Watch thread, the mining software configuration threads and all the info gathering to set up a large farm. Except for posting in Bitcoin100, which he started, he was just screwing around and still making 8-9 posts for every one I made. If he wanted to, it would be no issue at all for him to make 1000+ posts a month.

Wouldn't be much point, it would just become who controls the most alt accounts to skew the vote how they want. Unofficial discussion is better.

That would be really shady...we aren't a bank where the top ten traders get +10% reward or so :D

Yeah, that's not going to happen for the reasons already stated above. However, someone is free to create their own unofficial popularity contest with a reward if they so wish.

They have the funds, just really not for to 'promote forum activity' in such a way. I guess maybe some yearly competitions could be fun though this forum doesn't really seem the type to dish out money via such giveaways. I think if it was to happen it would have to be for something that couldn't be exploited and mere votes/voting could unfortunately.

You could have a contest for the most helpful posts. Lots of forums do this sort of thing. It doesn't even need to cost the forum anything. Gun forums will have sponsors, usually advertisers, run contests. Admin, mods, legendary and hero members get to vote with the admin being the deciding vote. Every rank below hero are the contestants. Contests are for bringing in new members. Legendary and hero members don't need a contest because they're going to come here anyway. Honestly, if you're a legendary or hero member and don't try to help new members at least occasionally a reward isn't going to help you. You should be banned. lol

I agree, maybe the contest could be for a cool custom status for a certain time? Or perhaps a title under/over the username stating that you won. I also do not think the contest should be for bitcoins.

Normal forum voting will definitely be exploited. But, if the voting takes place with bitcoin, i.e. each user need to spend bitcoin to vote an user and the prize value is less than the total amount of spent, then it would probably not be outright exploited. But, there might still be some possibilities of rigging.

But seriously, I haven't been on this forum long enough to have a favorite poster, so...

It would only increase the value of accounts that satisfies whatever the criteria demanded for them be able to vote.

And demand BTC in order to vote is easily exploitable by a big whale with thousands of BTC, enough to make withdraw into FIAT impossible without some money laundering charges

You missed my point. I said voting with bitcoin, which has nothing to do with IP. People can simply use an online wallet to vote, but no one will lose his own bitcoin to win a prize money of less amount. Hence, only real votes will count.


Same here. And the good news is D&T is back to the forum after months of break.

Maybe if a vote did happen, votes would have to be tied to the account, and also you would have to be full member or higher to vote. Just a suggestion, still can be abused but probably less so.
