This is the first time I've ever run across such a roadblock. Has anybody else encountered such?

I have had that problem with TOR , but never with bitcoin. You might have an IP changing problem.
Can you check if you IP is the same in a gap of an hour?

it may be possible that you are making a lot of searches in google very fastly so they want to check that it is not a automated bot that searching those terms
they just asking for code verification to make sure it is human not a bot that is making that much searches
just wait for sometime and try again

You just googling way, way more than anyone in your neighborhood. It happens all the time. Google is defending itself against scripts running amok. The exact quantity of what it means "way more" depends on the network neighborhood you're connecting from. Since you've posted your IPv6 address we know that you use Comcast Cable. Post some more about your network hookup (e.g. are you using router/gateway or just a modem), maybe someone familiar with a similar setup will help you how to change both of your IPv4 and IPv6 address.

Edit: Since you're using IPv6 here are two addresses to start:

http://iplookup.co/      - IPv6 enabled free geolocation
http://test-ipv6.com/   - exactly what it says.

Is your IP static or dynamic? If its dynamic, the previous person who had this IP was probably sending malicious traffic to google. Or, perhaps you have been infected by a malware and it is sending out automated queries to google. Are you experiencing problem searching other terms?

it looks that you are using a proxy or tor that is doing many searches from the same ip

yep, proxies /tor is the cause.. many have complained about google bot checking tor IP's

I've seen that while on corporate networks before. It's unrelated to what you're searching for.

I face this kind of restriction all the time. This is normal.

No proxies or tor. I've never been to tor or used tor, let alone the proper way to say such.

Do have Comcast.

I was in the process of searching a term quickly because I keep changing the search parameters, i.e., repositioning the * inside the quote thingies, along with spelling changes, e.g., tenses.

There's been no further problem since I filled in a captcha, one that I was finally able to decipher.

I am not familiar with how comcast sends their traffic outside of their network so I am not sure if this affects anything or not.

If you were quickly adjusting your search parameters then each adjustment (and possibly every letter change) can look like a new search to google. If you are changing what you are searching for too quickly google will think you are either some kind of bot, trying to manipulate results, or trying some other malicious action.

The reason that many people were saying it was your proxy (or more likely a VPN) is because these services cause many people to share the same IP address which causes the same result

IIRC (been a few years since I've had Comcast service), Comcast will change your assigned address if you give their CSRs a jingle. It's routine with most ISPs - should be quick and question-free.

If you don't want to fuck around with customer support, many ISPs will unassign "your" address if you unplug your cable modem (not the router!) for a significant amount of time (unplugging before you go to sleep, re-plugging when you wake up would probably be fine - 48h absolute max).

ETA: Some especially retarded "anonymous" web services might track you as a user by your IP address (which might prevent you from logging in again after the switch), and some services will require you to answer security questions, copy a verification code sent to your registered email address, or copy an SMS sent to your phone the next time you try to log in (especially security-minded sites with 2FA, but also more casual services like Steam), so make sure you can do that if you switch IP address.

It's not an anti-bitcoin stance by Google. You have somehow been tagged as a spammer. Your searches could have been about apple pies and the result would've been the same.

Google doesn't trying to block you
It's just protection against bot / DDoS attack

Usually it is happen if you use VPN/SSH/Proxy/Tor Browser
or your device is infected with virus/spyware/malware

And you already use IPv6  :o

this screen at google can be caused by a few things:

-your IP changed and someone else had that IP before you did
-malware on your system
-error on googles side

that's the possibilities i can think of.

just solve the captcha and you will be fine.

Also if you not behind proxy or tor or network might be compromised

This is not related to Bitcoin. Actually this problem never was related to bitcoin, it's more of an IP problem.

It always happens when one is using Tor/Proxy/etc. It's not blocking "Bitcoin search terms", the simple solution is either keep entering captchas or use other search engines which don't use 'https'

My theory is that someone has been trying to game the google trends results for bitcoin searches. Because it is regarded as a bellwether for price uptrends.

Now, that's a logical theory.
