Title: BitGoogle.net
Post by: TechnoBibble on January 01, 2015, 06:56:01 PM
Hi,

I have noticed the amount of absolute nonsense that is displayed when you search for specific Bitcoin related searches in google due to the way the search engine works.

Therefore I have create http://www.BitGoogle.net (http://www.BitGoogle.net)

Why BitGoogle.net?

Google allows me to create a custom search engine specifying "safe" domains, Like bitcointalk.org for example. You will find no Scam/Ponzi sites added to BitGoogle.net only legitimate sites deemed legitimate by YOU, Everytime I add a domain to the list I will share it in this thread first to see what people think, If it safe, it will be added, if its a possible Ponzi it will go in the sinbin!

BitGoogle.net plans to be a safe Bitcoin related search engine for everyone to use and get the results that are most relevant to you.

Hope you enjoy it.

http://www.BitGoogle.net (http://www.BitGoogle.net)

P.S. I have checked into laws regarding the use of the Google Name, due to me being an individual and not a company the use of the Google name is not infringing any copyright unless I deem to make money from the site, Which I do not.

I have asked this question on many forums and the same answer has came up many times.

You're using Google registered trademark in domain , logo and using their custom search

Right, I've actually had advice from some lawyers on some websites regarding this matter.

1) Google the name can be used by anyone in the eyes of the law as long as I am not implying that I have a relationship with this company, which clearly I don't.
2) Right, I am not allowed to use their logo... which unless you don't know what the Google logo looks like, I am not.
3) Yes I am using their custom search, They allow people to do so, so as a person I can.

I claim on the website to have no relationship with them.

I tested BitGoogle,

and it seems to only crawl through reddit/r/bitcoin
or bitcointalk.org. It doesn't show any other link in the web.

Try searching coindesk

It's an effective way for users to search without having to set the settings on a google search. I can see it being helpful, although personally I wouldn't use it too much since I don't search for BitCoin related topics a lot

using anyone business name regardless of you not been related to them or not because it is partly a branded name ie Google in it you would need permission to use it. Seen loads of places been closed down because their using some form of name and having to get permission and a statement from that company to approve it. I would b contacting Google and also checking their Privacy Policy. Having a statement on the website is fine to cover you back if anyone related to Google does try to contact you. But using their search en gin id look to make your own search engine tool and not sort of use your site as a broker and middle man service and link into Google search engine. With the details you have been given is correct however I would just look to contact them for future advise to make sure its ok to do what your doing and then look to actually making your own search engine. Maybe call it Bitsearch, Bitindex,  and totally customize it to something of your own brand. Having own search engine and branded to yourself and new would be a much better idea. :)

I think it's different if he's trying to profit from it (which I'm not sure if he's trying to do). Because his search is actually using a custom search of the Google search, and he mentions he's not affiliated with them. From my perspective, there's no probably legal mishaps that could result from this endeavor.

I like it but you should add couple of more sites to the Custom search that are related with Bitcoin.
PS: stop using gmx mail.

I believe that to be a recent project take a long time to be able to index everything related to bitcoin.
