I'm not sure the price will go down under 300. Just my speculation.

Many analysts say that a bullrun will start in this january. But I would never trust any predication if you can't comprehend itself.

For a newcomer 300 is okay.
If you are really hunting for the bottom you could wait, but the risk is that you miss it and have to pay a higher price than current prices.
It also depends how many coins you want to buy.
If you are looking for large volume (10k+) any time now is the right time to buy.

But hey, don't listen too much to me. I'm usually wrong.

Also if you just want to invest long-term, then you should buy now.

Bitcoins price will increase to a much higher price then now. The price will drop to a minimum of 270$ and after going up to the moon maybe ;)

i just want to add that if you want to buy, you can buy little by little. i mean if you want to buy X BTC, buy X/3 right now and wait and see if the price rises or falls then buy X/3 and then again another x/3 the same way

Probably the best time to buy if you are not in rush and plan to hold atleast 1/2-1 full year.

when the btc rise again just don't say "ah if only i had bought some in early 2015"...

I know, I've had my doubts too.  :-\ It's been around in the $300 range for quite a while now.

If you too fear the price will go down under 300, spend your money half for buy or left 1/4 your money.

In my opinion yet...I assume to 250$ and after the biggest bullrun we've ever seen ;)

I don't know man, I have a feeling BTC could drop to under $250 at some point this year although I don't think it'll go under $200. It's just that I believe the longer this current uncertainty period lasts for, the higher the probability the value will gradually go down. People get uncomfortable when there is no progress, especially when market has been bearish for a while. If at least the price spikes a few times during those low periods maybe to $400 - 450, it won't be that bad.

I dont think so it will not reach 290 below. and then it will go up to 450 above with in next few months, then it will fluctuate about 400-450 then it will reach 600$.  ;D

Every bullrun in bitcoin has been the biggest because it always made a new ATH.
If you look at the multiplier, the 2011 bubble was the biggest with a 35x price increase and a 17.5 blow off.

IMO it is always a good time to buy when bitcoin hasn't reached mass adoption yet, as I firmly believe it can go way beyond the previous high in the future.

Well. Price did not reach that amount since summer if I recall correctly. It is hard to tell since bitcoin exchange rate tends to be... a little erratic at times. Your best option is to watch market yourself.

Probably not that soon, but some time in 2016 IMHO.
BTW, even though I believe the price will go a lot higher in the future, I would only invest part of my savings in bitcoin as it is still uncertain. I would suggest you to do the same.

I personally think it still needs to go to at least $275 on big volume before we start another ascend, so you could wait for that. That being said, if you believe in the long term success of Bitcoin, right now really doesn't seem to be the worst time to buy. But make up your own mind and don't listen to others on the internet blindly!

If you had asked this question a month ago I'd say it won't go under $300, now I'm not so sure. I think and hope it won't, should be time for a rebound :-\

Phew... difficult to say, no one can know that for sure, but in my opinion the price doesn't seem very inflated now. If I hadn't already my house and kids in Bitcoin, I'd go all in now. But never base your investment decisions on other people. I may be off!

We could go down for some time still. We need a big volume retest of the last low of $275... This isn't looking exactly textbook-reboundy right now, but what in the world of Bitcoin looks that way to be honest? Difficult to tell whether this is the right time to buy... But I agree that there are times much worse!

I've been asking myself the same question and am in the process of reinvesting after selling off my GPU farm.  But I'm leaning towards a hardware option as opposed to buying coin.  If I buy the coin when it's around $300 and it shoots up then I could buy more equipment but by then the cost of the equipment will go up too.  So, I'm thinking to get the equipment while it's cheap.  The other thing is you don't know how much it will shoot up.

At $280 now. $270 doesn't seem too far away now.

Current price on Bitstamp is ~$279. I maintain my stance, we will see the price go below $250 before the second quarter for 2015, I believe we will get very close to the $200 mark before we see a rise to around 250-300. Of course things will be completely different if at some point there is a major announcement. Let's hope that 2015 will be the year when top tech companies embrace Bitcoin  :)

At this rate, I think we'll reach $250 before January ends. Probably around $200 in February.

But I'm in this for at least the next 2-5 years. So I guess this is relatively a good time to buy.

Right now I would say is not a bad time to buy and watch it because of the volume and prices are pretty. Just be careful if you're trading. Worst thing is to buy high and sell low, that's really how you are going to lose a fortune in the end with bitcoin.

150-250 range is a good range to get in.

I think the best is not to buy everything on the same day.
But today is certainly a good day to start. :)

Try splitting the dollar amount you want to spend throughout a month or so.

NXT will not overtake bitcoin. It may rise in value but nothing has even come close to overtaking bitcoin. Bitcoin is revolutionary technology and outdated how? There is a reason real million/billion dollar business are accepting bitcoin and not NXT.

It is always a good time to buy if one knows when to sell. This market is highly volatile. A lot of room for profits to be made.

I don't get the hate for NXT. I've just started using it the past week or two and it's impressive. Sure the prices are low enough as to be meaningless but there are a lot of good things there: speed and stability of price being the main ones.

It's proof of stake compared to Bitcoin's proof of work, so apples and oranges really, but NXT seems a great system.

Either we form a new uptrend on the daily (maybe 10/21 ema cross, maybe other considerations).... or I wait to see how it bounces off 200 zone or 130 zone. It's a bear market, no reason to jump in blindly.

Let's be REALISTIC. NXT sounds horrible. Bitcoin sounds good. There is another great coin up and coming called Digibyte that will be the day to day currency that can be realistically used. BITCOIN will still be there as gold is to dollars. Anyways check out Digibyte

I would advise you to buy now and keep buying if it goes up or down, saving a portion of your revenue in bitcoins. If you have some capital already saved, you could use 1 to 5% of it to buy some bitcoins

How long is "long term". 6 months? A year? 2 years? ATM it looks like not many people are interested in buying.
People were telling others to buy last year and the price has been falling ever since.

Tomorrow was an other day, we touched 223.5$ on BTC-e, lots of people shorting or selling to buy back lower. We will have a dead cat bounce or a new bull run this week but we may not have seen the bottom of this bear market just yet.

Now is undoubtedly a good time to buy, the price is very low imo. I'm pretty sure we've seen the bottom now & we're just waiting for something to signal another significant price rise.
I'd advise anybody to buy in now if they can afford it, with the halving next summer you're almost certain to make a healthy profit if you invest now.

BTC doesn't have to go to the moon to make people good money, buy in now, HODL for a few years & you should make a good amount of profit. It's simple, the only way for the price to go is up now imo.

YES! It's a very good time to buy now bitcoins. After 2017 the price of bitcoin has never comes under $300 again.

For me the appropriate price to buy $ 100

but the appropriate price for you may never come. actually the possibility of price going as low as $100 is so low now. the only way is a disaster that can cause it to go down, which i don't see comming.
you better change your standards.

if it go to 100 it will probably keep falling, so your price to buy should be much lower, which then it would mean that bitcoin is dead or reached the "non return point" aka pointless strategy

better to buy now with a price that has proven to be stable for the past few months, and it is holding strong despite all the fud and TX drama ecc...

I am not sure if now is a good time to buy after the price rise. Who knows if it will go back down or continue to rise. If it does go back down though, I may consider purchasing some more.

Price going down today was probably just some sellers trying to make a quick profit. But it already bounced back up to close to $260. Until Sunday when the Greeks vote on the referendum on whether to continue with austerity, the price should be high.

Buy some. I believe they'll touch around 500$ this year.

For the price to go up, we need people to buy. So yes, now is the time to buy :)

now the previous weeks are definitely a good time to buy bitcoin because of the low price but this situation is not going to last forever. and it is definitely not "always" a good time to buy bitcoin. for example after the rally that it reached $1200 it was not a good idea to buy bitcoin. but nobody knows at the time.!

if you think that the price will rise to 10k, 1200 is nothing in comparison and it will anyway be a good time to buy the same can be said about 10k and so on(it is evident that the more we move up, the more difficult will be for bitcoin to rise).. price is relative, it's the potential behind it that matter

the big rally in 2013 was intense. people were trying to chase quick profits as the price was only going up. till the bubble bursted and people were forced to sell with a heavy loss to prevent even bigger losses. this year so far is a great year to buy bitcoin.

Dollar cost averaging is a good strategy.

I cannot even begin to think about the kind of jumps in price that would be made when bitcoin goes towards 10k.. It would not be dollar cents, it would be dollars at a time :O

Currently whales and early adopters can easily dump the price down with -10%, that would mean in todays price that Bitcoin would lose around $27 considering Bitcoin's current price is $270.

If Bitcoin indeed once manages to be at $10K, it will be devastating once whales decide to dump it down to $9K within a minute.

People gotta get over the possibility that BTC is just a trading tool and start accepting it as a Tech rather than currency. That would bring a lot more positive results among the community.

goodtime indeed  The fluctuation will keep on happening. Doesnt imply that we should nit take up the risk and buy. Get up and buy and invest into financial products while you can. These things are really benificial in the long term . Coming from the personal experience of a person. Even if you take advises on such topics , it will always turn out to be the same.

If you are bullish long term, go and buy at the dips. :) I sense that this year up to the next halving will turn out great and bountiful for us bitcoiners. ;) Currently, I'm holding for long-term. if you buy to hold for the long term, then even $350 is still a good buy. if you're only interested in short term investments then now is a good buy moment.

No rush to get in now as it looks to go lower from here short term. But, other side of the argument is in the long run yes this price looks cheap IMO.

The recent price downfall is a good indicator that you should go buy because there is a good chance that it will come back to $300 soon.

Good time to buy we're currently in the bullish, bearish and flat trends. The spike over $300 last week shot out of all the trends, so retracement is hardly a surprise.

Personally I would wait.  I feel like it will drop to at least 250 in the next month.  Many of people here feel the same but others do not.  In the long term it will be an investment anyway and the payout will rock it we get to that ball of dirt in space we call the moon.  :D

I wouldn't wait and play for a few dollars on a downside when this puppy is looking upwards. This a buy and hold period for bitcoin but an even more volatile sideshow for litecoin. Keep your stash where it is but leave 5% or so to play the next litecoin wave up. That's right I said it.

If a friend would ask me, if now is a good time to buy, I would tell him to buy now half of the amount he has in mind. With the other half he should wait a little and see how the price moves.

Remember, the crash in the beginning of the year happened with zero news in the background. Just crazy free market rollercoaster.

For any long term investor 100, 200 or 300 or 500.. it's all the same. If you are going to hold 10 years as you should, then who cares. Any day outside the BTC train = big risk to miss moon tickets.
