Title: LocalBitCoins Using Email
Post by: tm7t2 on January 02, 2015, 11:06:09 PM
Hi, I'm about to make my first Bitcoin purchase from LocalBitCoins.
Should I use my own email address or an alternative email?
I will be funding the Bitcoin purchase with my bank account so perhaps this is a silly question, as using my bank account cancels out any anonymity I might want..Thanks very much, T

Bitcoins are actually not illegal (depends where you are from, see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legality_of_Bitcoin_by_country). It doesn't matter if you use your real or a new mail address for this purpose. It depends on your own decision. In my case, I made a new mail address extra for all Bitcoin exchanges / sites to keep my main mail account clean from unwanted spam etc.

Good luck and have fun with Bitcoin ;)

I do not see any problem to use your main email address. Unless you have any idea how to sort out your emails using more accounts and emails.

There are benefits and cons as allways  8)

With more email accounts you can "hidden" your identity but you need to handle more accounts.
With one email account you have all in one place.

It`s more on the your preference and habbits.

Just use your main email, as anonymity isn't really on your priority list or you won't use bank transfer for the trade.

As you have already said...use your main address or if anonymity is priority for you then transfer from someone else's account and use alternative mail.
BTW localbitcoins is like market with vendors selling bitcoin, you're not buying from an company.

You answered your own question actually. Since you're using your bank account you're not anonymous, so just use the email you'd normally use.

I acquired my bitcoin once using localbitcoin by setting up an appointment to meet up with the seller so that we can conclude sales and purchase on the spot. Quite a nice dealing though as when I talk to him, we share a few common ideas. After the sale concluded we just move our own way. If that is your concern about anonymity.

This is also good idea, just be sure to meet on some public place or let's say in restaurant (i mean safe places).
