Good news for miners. Another previous pro-AGW scientist jumps off the AGW train due to decades of weather balloon data. So you can keep mining with a good conscience if criticized for producing CO2 ;-)

I hold a similar position: yes, global warming exists, but empirical evidence has proved that it is too small to be of concern and that it's not a run-away effect, but rather natural processes in the earth and biosphere counter act temperature increases.

in the first place, mining is less carbon-intensive than any form of physical wealth accumulation i know of.

in the second place, David Evans is a denialist, and has always been so.  he's made a cottage-industry out of claiming to recant his 'pro-AGW views'.  over and over and over again.  see:
http://www.realclimate.org/index.php?s=David+Evans&submit=Search&qt=&q=David+Evans+site%3Awww.realclimate.org&cx=009744842749537478185%3Ahwbuiarvsbo&client=google-coop-np&cof=GALT%3A808080%3BGL%3A1%3BDIV%3A34374A%3BVLC%3AAA8610%3BAH%3Aleft%3BBGC%3AFFFFFF%3BLBGC%3AFFFFFF%3BALC%3A66AA55%3BLC%3A66AA55%3BT%3A000000%3BGFNT%3A66A\%0D%0AA55%3BGIMP%3A66AA55%3BFORID%3A11%3B&searchdatabase=site#1119

in the third place, he is nothing even resembling a working climate scientist.

and fourthly, he's wrong.

Don't worry. The part about jumping off a train was a metaphor.

...he is nothing even resembling a working climate scientist.
A working scientist would have known that the raw data has been corrected to correct for weather stations in warm urban locations (for decades now).
