Title: Server PSU for ASICMiner Block Erupter Prisma
Post by: takagari on January 06, 2015, 04:37:32 AM
I'd like to use 220V server supplies for these.
The DPS-2000bb seems a bit overkill for this, What would a good 1500watt or so psu be?

Building the adaptor isn't an issue if I have a pinout.
Or hell even something bigger I can use to run 2, is there a 2.5kwatt psu I could get?

Thanks for any help/advice, using a gaming psu seems overkill and huge.

I've got pairs of Prismas running off single DPS-2000bb without any trouble.

See, I've heard this.
But the math means your over cooking the little thing...

I'm new to these, each of the four boards has 2 plugs.
Do I need to use all 8 plugs, 1 on each board?
If I ran the 2000, it give's four plugs, do I send two to each miner, than split it only 4 ways or out to all 8 plugs?

I'll just build my own breakout for it. so knowing ow to wire is a bonus :)

Thanks for the second recommendation on this.

Remember you get more efficiency out of your PSU by running it less than full bore. Don't quote my figures, but I believe as long as you are over 50% but less than 90% of the rated draw you are in the sweet spot for efficiency. Considering the low price of server PSU's, if you get an extra 3-4% efficiency by adding another and sharing the load, you could realistically make up the price of the 2nd PSU in electricity savings at the wall, and less likely to burn out maybe?

Very true, but who knows, maybe I'll get two.
Run one on one, and two on another. see what they burn at the plug!

Since Prismas have independent power per board, you could run three across two DPS2K and run them both at about 3/4 power. I've also got a setup like that running without problems.

not sure on the low power thing.
I was also looking at a 2800 w option
