Post by: cbeast on January 07, 2015, 10:50:34 AM
Let's make 2016 the year Bitcoin becomes 100% hacker proof. How do we do it?

Go back to 2009...implement Bitcoin the way it is.

Done. Bitcoin is now hacker proof.

You do know it is 2015 right?

What I mean is that by 31DEC15 no exchanges, wallets, point of sales, or any other Bitcoin transaction gets hacked, attacked, goxxed, or unintentionally burned. I know we can't stop people from being scammed, nor can we force people to practice good backup discipline. Those will be for 2017. But for now let's make sure that in 2016 there will be no more hacks.

But you said "bitcoin" :P.

or unintentionally burned.

You mean, no accidents? Of any kind? Sorry but accidents do exist, and it's not expected they'll cease to exist anytime soon.

so we have some time to make it "hacker proof".  :P

in my view bitcoins will always get stolen, lost and sites will be hacked even in 2025.

Mycelium (and Armory) is setting the bar. We need to set it even higher. There's no reason we can't have iron vault security in our pocket. We need Bitcoin to have a brand recongnition for impenetrable security. I think it is possible.

Bitcoin itself still to be hacked.

The problem is people doing stuff in vulnerable environments and/or doing things badly, thus creating weak spots that can exploited

We propose to North Korea to accept bitcoins as the national currency.

Multisig will help a lot.

When wallets were first introduced your .dat file was saved in text forum, unencrypted. Encrypting that helped a lot. Multisig will help when it comes to keeping your keys safe.
