Post by: jordonposey on July 05, 2012, 10:42:44 PM
I've heard you can buy gold and silver with BTC? Anyone tried this? Did it work? How fast was it?
Thanks.

You can buy some at Coinabul, which has apparently earned a good rep. You can also buy some from me at Shire Silver (http://shiresilver.com).

It might be worth noting that my product isn't intended as an investment, but as an alternative currency. Use Coinabul for investment grade purchases.

There are other options available as well.

BTW, I've been having some issues with my webhost shutting down the port I need to complete bitcoin transactions, so if you get an error, just use the contact page on the site to let me know and it can be done the old fashioned way (which frankly isn't difficult at all).

I just checked our prices. There is only a $18/oz difference for an oz of gold between us and Apmex wire price.

Taking a 0.6% trade fee on Mt.Gox, + $25 wire withdrawal fee from Mt.Gox, + $35 international wire transfer average receipt cost in America, + $25 average domestic wire cost in America, - $18 price difference means we save about $77 per ounce of gold than if you try to do it yourself.
