Title: Re: "Country" Coins. Ranked by market cap Post by: Bizmark13 on January 10, 2015, 01:15:37 AM Kiwicoin (http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=637004) was a failed attempt at creating a coin for New Zealand. Likewise, Aphroditecoin (http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=511160) for Cyprus and HellasCoin (no English [ANN] thread) and Greececoin (http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=516955) for Greece. While all are considered failures now, I think Aphroditecoin was the most successful out of these since it appeared in quite a few mainstream news sites including Reuters and Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/cryptocurrency-news-round-aphroditecoin-woos-miners-auroracoin-airdrop-144001689.html).
Article at CCN: http://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/hope-cyprus-aphroditecoin-now-4th-market-cap/ There is also MediterraneanCoin (http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=397831) but it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the Mediterranean. Also, they're not really countries but related are Mazacoin (http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=508849) for the Traditional Lakota Nation, New York Coin (http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=499842) for New York, and CaliforniaCoin (http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=589672) for California. EDIT: There is also FIMKrypto (FIMK) for Finland. It's a NXT clone. [ANN] thread is here (http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=633304). EDIT 2: Again, this one's not really a country (well, at least not anymore) but there is Denarius (http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=591323) for Ancient Rome. Title: Re: "Country" Coins. there were 2 coins for italy but i remember only lira coin Title: Re: "Country" Coins. Ranked by market cap Post by: gjhiggins on January 10, 2015, 01:47:00 PM Then there is Greekcoin, now Titancoin https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=637529.0
The connection with Greece is fabricated. Canada had several at one point. There's GB coin and others to be “discovered” - Minki keeps a comprehensive list: https://minkiz.co/coin/name/ Cheers Graham Edit added ca mention Title: Re: "Country" Coins. I'm not sure if it's dead or not. I think it's dead: I dumped most of my holdings while I could. Title: Re: "Country" Coins. Ranked by market cap Post by: stellar1 on January 11, 2015, 07:13:18 AM I think this is a good indicator of altcoin use uptake by country.
Thanks and please keep updating. Title: Re: "Country" Coins. Ranked by market cap Post by: solid12345 on January 11, 2015, 10:25:28 AM You left out Mazacoin, which is for the Lakota Tribal nation and the first "country" coin of all.

A lot of effort and achiveents in 9 months so far, sick amount of merchants allready (I can pay with Guldencoin for my Subway sandwich in my town!) and still growing. Not even a year old, respect.
