Here's a recent study of the "30 most influential bitcoiners on social media":

http://www.digitalcurrencycouncil.com/professional/30-influential-bitcoiners-social-media/

Not sure everyone on that list should be, and it's missing key people who don't happen to use social media much, but it's a good start.

Anonymity has its virtues.

Check out Andreas Antonopoulos. Joe Rogan has interviewed him twice, both can be found on YouTube.

if you're a big whale; you're probably underground.

Don't care whomever tells I'm a whale and I make you rich $$$.

What I've learned through experience is that the best "big players" of bitcoin don't use social media that often.
It's not a matter of following people. you gotta be aware of the market and new events. There are experts who know what they're talking about but people can only speculate too much...
Go to bitcoin.org and learn about the people who invented it, you can go from there to find better people.

Follow https://twitter.com/bitcoin ...they generally retweet the important tweets related to bitcoin. Apart from this it depends what is going to be your chosen niche in crtptocurrency. Depending on that U need to follow different handles on twitter.

If you want to have news follow coindesk, cryptocoinnews and cointelegraph

besides you should check reddit r/bitcoin some times, you can also follow a twitter bot account that shows the hot reddits in r/bitcoin

You cant know the owners of the addresses in the bitcoinrichlist unless they themselves make these addresses public at some point and not only that but that address has a clear link to a true person.
Other than that you can find lots of people in twitter that act as if they are rich just to try to have an impact in the market. Most likely most of them aren't whales themselves.

Max Keiser talks a lot about crypto, and finances in general.

Rick Falkvinge from the Pirate Party is an über bull.
Check out this article:

I like to re-read it in these times of sadness :)

Basically this, I like looking at the headlines of news websites ocasionally too. Cointelegraph and coinbrief aer the ones that I like the most. Coindesk is perfectly decent too their articles are profesionall and rarely miss an event, a bit overrated though imo.

Not all of them learned about bitcoin that early. AFAIK, Tim Draper and the Winklevoss twins started their bitcoin business in 2013.

That Cobain guy is not necessarly a scammer, but they probably have private pumping groups and use people to keep pumping the coin they choose. So if you catch a pump it will be mostly luck, you risk that by the time you invest as they announce the coin in twitter, they start dumping.
