We might want to increase the one megabyte limit at some point

One of the more recent videos had Andreas Antonopolous saying that Gavin Andresen was currently doing tests for 20Mb and 200Mb blocks, with encouraging initial results.  Will need more stress testing though.

They aren't very rare these days but there's still some breathing space before we actually need it.

Block size should be increased, but after proper test.

The current block size is too small.

I don't know why there were so many negative sentiments when the idea was proposed. We definitely need to look forward and plan for the future. No way bitcoin is going to move ahead with its current state. I'm all for the change.

Increasing block size requires miner consent, not that of core devs.

Given miners' current misery, they would rather welcome increasing fees due to block space shortage.

Interesting, any thoughts on the lines? (500KB, 900KB etc) I'm guessing miners self-imposed limits but it seems a little strange that they're so clear as I'd guess it would need a lot of miners imposing the same limit.

The lines are because it is faster to update merkle trees with sizes of 2 exponents. Properitary mining software is optimized for that.

what is the x axis?

20mb block limit? Crap, that will be a problem for block chain bloat. 200mb limit seems ridiculous to me, the potential for abuse is bad enough at 20mb, 200mb is lunacy, we can't have a block chain that grows a terabyte a week. Unless I'm missing something here.

Looks like the # of blocks mined.

It cannot grow that much. It will only grow depending on the number of transactions per day. The growth will be the same as today, till more and more people use Bitcoin thus creating more transactions, what they want to achieve with this is, more transactions per block thus "faster" confirms(because they can all be fit in one block).
