Title: I like Brawker, but is there something like this for paying bills?
Post by: Elwar on January 15, 2015, 09:37:09 AM
One of the last things I need to cut off my bank account is the ability to pay my mortgage in bitcoins. I currently pay via an automated bank check sent out each month.

I like Brawker how they do a multi-sig setup for paying for things online based on a web link to the item.

I would like something like that where you give the bank info and customer number with the amount you want to go out and someone sends out the check for your bills. Then when it is verified that it is paid the funds are released.

Bonus points for allowing for the ability to set it up to repeat monthly.

Someone made this video: "Living on Bitcoin - Paid my rent and phone bill!". He's comparing a few services, including Brawker (https://brawker.com)

Oh wow, so it looks like it could be possible. I'll look into this.

I see a newbie saying they didn't fund an escrow with regards to Brawker
Never used the service myself so its second hand information

That said I think Zapo may be able to do that to an extent, if not then no idea as to anyone else that can do automated bill payments yet.

The normally tight-lipped bitcoin services provider Xapo has announced a slew of new updates focused on bolstering its security offerings.

Though the move allows the company to remove fees for its signature vault storage service, adding multi-signature authorization to that offering and completing a Service Organization Control 2 (SOC2) Type I Audit. But it is perhaps its partnership with Silicon Valley startup Satellogic that showcases the extent to which it seeks to secure the bitcoin it holds for customers.

Saw that, I think I will hold off on a mortgage payment through them until I have used them for a few small things.

Well just read up on that topic looks like it was um what's the polite way to say noob as it was resolved pretty fast there.
Its an interesting enough concept though kind of a reseller service since I just read up a bit on it, but knowing Bitcoin it always best to monitor these sort of issues with caution first before all else.
I didn't know they did mortgages though says online shopping but that video convinced me that it could work.

Ya, I'll still start small. I've used purse.io and it sounds similar but with more functionality.
