Post by: BitcoinOrigins on January 16, 2015, 11:18:41 PM
I was wondering it seems the majority of users are using Bitcoin but I see a few people who are quite techy using bitcoin what is the correct way?

Accepted practice is to use "Bitcoin"  to label the software, protocol, and community, and "bitcoins"  to label tokens/unit of currency.

Not sure if I've heard about this before and whether capitalization makes any difference so I just use them interchangeably.

I think "Bitcoin" refers to the software, whereas "bitcoin" refers to the currency. (Just like Welsh said above.)

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.
