Title: Long list of addresses and (private?) keys
Post by: Super T on January 16, 2015, 11:54:33 PM
Can anyone explain what this is?

http://directory.io/1#5HpHagT65TZzG1PH3CSu63k8DbpvD8s5ip4nEB3kEsreAbuatmU (http://directory.io/1#5HpHagT65TZzG1PH3CSu63k8DbpvD8s5ip4nEB3kEsreAbuatmU)

Looks like someone has spent a lot of time generating addresses.

I checked about 5 of the addresses, weirdly one has been used in the past, possibly some kind of test (https://blockchain.info/address/1QAALUJNskZWEbvwKXoTteowgs9xGGeAZR (https://blockchain.info/address/1QAALUJNskZWEbvwKXoTteowgs9xGGeAZR))

No idea if the private keys are actual private keys.

While it is a bit of fun the cool thing is that they are valid private/public keys, what he has done is started from 1 and incremented by one each time, it looks like he counted through the entire keyspace!

What is actually going on is the pages are dynamically generated, so while they are valid, he does not actually have to go through the keyspace, he just needs to generate the page your looking at.

Not unless you actually post your private key to search for it.
Then he has your key  ;)

Well I think it's just another scam, no matter how much low the Bitcoin price gets, scammers are always there to trick you.
