Title: ZiftrCOINs - what do you think?
Post by: BeataTX91 on January 17, 2015, 02:40:59 PM
It's about this contest (http://cointelegraph.com/ziftr-contest).

What I find interesting is that  they presale  (https://www.ziftrcoin.com/presale/) this new coin at 1 BTC.

Do you think this price is justified?

Looks like the coin has a future.

Presale ends in 5 days, we'll see what happens next.

BTW, they're offering some nice rewards to the buyers (but for reaally cool ones you must but a LOT, which is some risk).

Buying credits for coupons that allow up to 3-4.9% discounts with amazon when I can get 3-20% discounts with Bitcoin already.

No, I think I will pass.

So is that all for a new coin - a credit coupon? I mean, any advantages at all?

Yes. I bought it. It looks 100x better than any other ICO out there and there is real company behind it. So..

only time will tell the rest.

Just spoke with one of their devs.
Its worse than you think, the coupons are not for their browser plugin ,and they won't list their merchants accepting the new coin thus the coupon tokens
will likely not be useful with anything at the moment.

Exactly, these guys might not have it all worked out yet...but it's a real proven team that will make something big happen.

Whats the point? You are buying coupons that you don't know who will accept and offer nothing that you cannot already get with bitcoin. You realize you can can already get 3% discounts with BTC through gyft and 15-20% discounts with BTC through https://brawker.com or purse.io .... what is the purpose of buying these coupon tokens?

Could you elaborate on that?

I've invested some money and if you know something I don't - could you please share your thoughts?

Than notice that their site still hasn't been corrected even after informing one of their devs that it is misleading and dishonest to investors back on 1/17..... when such a "mistake" should not have happened in the first place.

This is a good point. So far they don't have any merchant, right? It's not an easy job to make merchant accept new currency and it's even harder to make people use new currency, especially since you can get 20% off on Amazon with Bitcoin from https://purse.io/

So I don't think the coin will reach their goal, might end up as another pump and dump coin.

Well, there's no sign yet of any scam and everything looks ok, doesn't it?

What is giving you that impression? The fact that they are still misleading or lying to their investors is indeed a very large red flag.

I'm having real problems with Ziftr. After buying some coins in the presale I wired money for payment, and it was never credited to my account. I had to e-mail three times to get a response, basically amounting to "we've had a lot of purchases, we're busy." Okay, but now it's over a week since I've wired the money, and since then their entire website has changed and there's no longer even a place to display a balance anymore to confirm whether or not you have one. I've e-mailed them about this but again am not getting a response.
I don't know if they're a scam, it's possible there are legit explanations for all this, but I'm getting skeptical.

tl;dr Ziftr will not credit my account with payment, and can't really give a satisfactory explanation as to why.

Does that mean you think dump will follow?

They claim they're here to stay - and will be freezing part of the coins:
"25% won’t be available to use until one year has passed"
And the network will be secured using Proof of Work.

Looks like they're going to have special pools (https://www.ziftrcoin.com/what-is-ziftrcoin/faq/#mining#how-do-i-mine-ziftrcoin?) for people to mine it. But not yet.

They say there'll be no asics, just cpu mining (https://www.ziftrcoin.com/what-is-ziftrcoin/faq/#mining#what-are-ziftr-social-pools?).

The article is pretty interesting. What troubles me is I find it hard to treat a text seriously if there are exclamation marks in every other sentence.

Though I like the part about the risks.
