Despite claims of revolutionary technology and growing acceptance, as bitcoin price collapses it becomes increasingly clear that the only novel use for bitcoin is for child molesters and sex offenders.

“The emergence of bitcoins as payment for child sexual abuse represents the newest challenge in the fight” against child pornography, said Sarah Smith, a researcher at the IWF. “This is just the beginning.”

The currency provides “commercial child sexual abuse website operators with a method to revitalize their payment stream,” said John Shehan, executive director of the U.S. National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in Alexandria, Virginia.

So congratulations bitcoiners, at best you are strengthening a system widely used to sexually victimize children, and at worst you are actively aiding and abetting sex offenders. Please be advised bitcoiners, "Ayn Rand and Satoshi told me it was okay" is not a legal defense in court. Cheers!  ;D

I know this argument is old, over-user and kinda irritating. But seriously cash is the most anonymous form of payment available :P . BTC would not be my choice if I wanted to stay truly anonymous

If you look at statistics, I believe most of the child molesters in the world use the Indian Rupee and the U.S. Dollar.

Even if we ignore the thousands of merchants who accept Bitcoin in exchange for goods and services (including everything from small web hosting companies all the way up to big companies like Overtock and Microsoft), with so many people assuming services like Silk Road being considered by so many people to be the biggest use of bitcoin (right or wrong, I've noticed that's what a lot of people think) it's hard to conclude that the "only novel use" is for child molesters and sex offenders. Even if you believe the FUD from those who tell us Bitcoin is only used for drugs, I'd think that's also a novel use and I'm sure the use of bitcoin to facilitate the victimless crime of illicit drug use far outpaces the use of bitcoin to victimize children. With so many legitimate merchants accepting bitcoin it's not unreasonable to think that maybe, just maybe, legitimate use of bitcoin might outpace both. That would explain why the price skyrocketed when Silk Road was busted and everyone was predicting doom.

Wouldn't something like Darkcoin work better for the most unacceptable crimes against humanity?
