Title: Mt gox and the silk road.
Post by: nitehawk on January 20, 2015, 03:41:07 PM
So i was reading http://www.wired.com/2015/01/prosecutors-dont-want-jury-see-interview-silk-roads-dread-pirate-roberts/ (http://www.wired.com/2015/01/prosecutors-dont-want-jury-see-interview-silk-roads-dread-pirate-roberts/)
and something stood out to me

I chatted with the Dread Pirate Roberts on Silk Road forums, confident that only Roberts would have access to that username in the Silk Road system. As the Silk Road’s kingpin described it, he found a security vulnerability in the site early in its time online that would have allowed an attacker to steal the bitcoins users spent to make purchases in its anonymous online market.

now i have to check my dates to see if they match up but assuming this is indeed true and it was before the whole MT GOX issue. Wouldn't this prove that they (MTGOX) knew about the flaw and may have indeed used said flaw as an excuse  to steal/embezzle bitcoins claim it was because of the flaw file bankruptcy pay some BS fine and sale off with the difference in profit?

granted i didn't have bitcoin in MTGOX but it did strike me as a bit odd and the timing is interesting.
