Title: No can do. Ignore
Post by: jjames888 on July 14, 2012, 04:50:46 AM
I would like a Yamakasi Catleap Monitor. It must be a no glass version. The version with both dual link dvi and hdmi would be nice but is unnecessary.

Details:

Would anyone be willing to beat the going ebay  (http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?Screen%2520Size=27%2522&_sacat=0&_nkw=Yamakasi%20Catleap%20Monitor&_dmpt=Computer_Monitors&_sop=15&_clu=2&_fcid=1&_localstpos=83814&_stpos=83814&gbr=1)price of $300 with free shipping. Must be willing to use escrow. I will pay an extra 2 btc afterwords if the monitor has no dead pixels.

So does anyone know someone here who would like to make a little BTC by undercutting the ebay prices?

I'm confused, are these supposed to be better than say a DELL IPS 27" for cheaper?  I see it has a higher res but is that it?

These use the same display panel as in the 27in apple cinema display. There are two reasons that they are so cheap compared to other 1440p monitors. They have a cheap (incredibly cheap) plastic housing and stand. They also are A- panels instead of the A+ in the apple ones.  A- panels are allowed to have up to 5 dead pixels on the outer 3rds of the panel. Most people are getting lucky and not getting any dead pixels at all. Even if you got 5, 5 out of 3,686,400(2560*1440) is barely noticeable.
All that information is in the overclock network thread.

I want 3 of these  >:(
Three of these is cheaper than a dell ips or the apple with same ips panel. If you look through that overclock network thread I linked to you will see some eyefinity setups with these. I would avoid getting the ones with glass panels because korean standards are not so high and many are reporting dust behind the glass.

So does anyone know someone here who would like to make a little BTC by undercutting the ebay prices? For me, now us. Maybe goat would be able to, he is in Taiwan I believe. Or at least hopefully know someone in Korea.
Edit: I pm'd goat

I actually use one of the 27" iMac's at work. My current setup at home is 3 1920x1080 monitors. And yes, I want to upgrade to these because they are cheaper than one apple display or dell IPS.

Thanks. Should of remembered you were there. I remember your Korean teen model thing you had going awhile ago.  Ataranlen seemed to want some too.

Ah you mean Yoon Yeonghwa? lol. She's not mine. She did just open up a new website though, it was on reddit and her facebook, http://www.posadoll.com

Seeing as I already have a triple monitor setup, I'd probably just get one for right now.  8)

I didn't mean "your" model. I guess I could of worded it better. By your I mean project, like your Korean teen model project

Oh, it's not mine. I'm just helping her get Bitcoins integrated. She's running the whole thing. She's like the female version of Zhou Tong lol

I'm also interested in one of these.

Would need to know more about whomever will be providing these first.

Such as:

a) Shipping to international (& cost)
b) Availability of zero dead pixel unit. (I will pay extra)
c) Refresh rate overclock potential

etc.

Other things I'd like to know:

Do the available models have Glass?
Do the available models have speakers?
What inputs do the available models have?

I can afford quite a few of these if it would be cheaper to ship them all to the same place, and then I could sell them to other forum members in the US.

I wouldn't bet money that they are actually cheaper here than wherever you are. LG TVs for example are significantly cheaper in Canada and the US than they are domestically. Same with a lot of the Korean made phone handsets is my understanding.

The only place I'm able to see them for sale is on Ebay. The whole point of this thread is we don't want to use ebay (owner of paypal) and we're hoping someone can undercut the ebay prices as a bonus.

Honestly this is true. Korean products in Korea cost more in Korea because they lock imports down and can get away with it.

Is there a problem with the tempered glass version?  I do not see any of the ebay sellers referencing no glass.

Can you not pull the glass off and clean it like a laptop?

When you guys figure it out and know -exactly- what you want and if you still want me to find one in Korea, send me a PM.

Any word Matthew?

Glassless no speaker 27" black frame. Would like a cost before I say how many. Can you include a US outlet adaptor?
