Title: BTC transaction auto triggering a transfer on another blockchain?
Post by: EndlessSummer on January 24, 2015, 04:52:21 PM
Hello,

I am looking for a way to cause a transaction on one blockchain (say the Bitcoin blockchain) to automatically trigger a transaction to occur on another separate blockchain (for example the Litecoin blockchain etc)

Is this possible? Does it exist already? Any help or guidance would be much appreciated (even if you just point out if this is a silly question).

Example:

1 BTC is sent to an address, this is automatically observed and a predetermined amount of another coin on another blockchain is sent to an address on this new blockchain from my account, the address this other coin will be sent to will be stipulated by the sender of the original Bitcoin in advance of sending.

If the Bitcoin is sent to the address without stimulating an address on an alternative blockchain nothing would happen on the second blockchain.
Basically a kind of automatic exchange mechanism operating between blockchains. It must be secure, automatic (would be easy to do this manually) and able to monitor multiple Bitcoin addresses.

Thanks in advance.

I guess you could hack something together on a server using two full nodes and some custom code if it is for your own purposes only.

However, if you want to do this trustlessly it has not been implemented yet as far as I know.

You can check this thread for example https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=826263.0
it will give you ideas for further reading.
