Title: Re: What is the best antivirus software to protect your crypto Post by: NeuroticFish on January 25, 2015, 07:15:53 PM Some good number of years ago I used AVG free. When I came back from holiday, I had a surprise. A bad one. AVG was not updated for long time (obviously) and couldn't connect to get the latest signatures. So it turned off the entire protection(!!).
Since then I use Comodo. To protect your coins, just keep small amount at hand and the rest can stay on paper wallets. And if you generate and print 1000 of them, a hacker/virus will hardly be able to keep track... Title: Re: What is the best antivirus software to protect your crypto Post by: unent on January 26, 2015, 12:52:20 PM You really need to use a decent firewall in addition to antivirus. Comodo firewall is good if you know how to configure it. For antivirus Avira or Avast are good.

I am now using malwarebytes and avg antivirus. That's a pretty good combination, but if you are not happy with it you might wanna take a look at NOD32. Title: Re: What is the best antivirus software to protect your crypto Post by: tk808 on January 26, 2015, 09:51:09 PM The best form of peace-of-mind protection is loading your wallets onto an unused USB device, never connected to your machine unless you are transferring coins ~ AKA Offline storage.

It did work magic! Title: Re: What is the best antivirus software to protect your crypto Post by: bitwarrior on February 10, 2015, 12:37:57 AM I am now using malwarebytes and avg antivirus. These two softwares are good to protect your crypto and proven adequate, as the other one suggested here you might as well try avast. Title: Re: What is the best antivirus software to protect your crypto Post by: MaxDZ8 on February 10, 2015, 08:10:27 AM Avast? Seriously?
The last few versions are becoming increasingly annoying. Just have your mass wallets on linux cold storage. Connect every once in a while to recharge your live wallets and be done with it. Title: Re: What is the best antivirus software to protect your crypto Post by: tadakaluri on February 10, 2015, 09:31:06 AM Yes, AVAST is the best one.

I have had none on mine for well over a year without any problem i have not even had to remove anything manually from the computer. Just need to watch what links you click sites you visit etc Title: Re: What is the best antivirus software to protect your crypto Post by: CoinCidental on February 10, 2015, 09:37:41 AM use a combination of 2 together
one specifically for malware and another for general antivirus threats etc you may want to disconnect from the internet when accessing your wallets passowrds etc or if your superparanoid install multibit on a usb stick and only plug it in to send coins to your phone or hot wallet etc while disconnected from the internet safer again is to use a dedicated old computer thats NEVER been connected to the net as your cold storage and lots of backups etc in the event of catastrophic failure |
