Title: auctions section spammed by crap domains
Post by: bbxx on January 25, 2015, 12:28:19 PM
Hi

Maybe it is a good idea to split auctions section into

1. hardware
2. digital goods
3. domains / sites / accounts

or

1. hardware
2. digital goods

now it is very risky to put something worth into auctions due to worthless digital goods spam

thanks

I think a Digital Goods auction could be beneficial as there does seem to be a lot and people generally don't seem to be that interested in them.

There's been 3 or 4 meta threads (including one of mine) about domain spam in auctions. I think it would be sufficient to have a domains subforum rather than a full split. Else you'll get things like the forum's advertising thread still smashed under 500 domain topics.

This forum earns tons of btc, maybe it is good idea to pay to forum moderators to read community requests and implement changes ?

Maybe we should put a bounty for such 5 minutes of effort for mod (old threads dont need to be moved)

Implementing changes is down to the admins not mods so BadBear and theymos are the only people with any weight for change regarding this matter.

Maybe, but maybe theymos could sticky the advertising slot thread.

True, but then anyone else selling legitimate digital goods (including some of my stuff even if it is low traffic) would still be back to square 1. The problem isn't being caused by digital goods, its being caused by domains and so you can nip the problem entirely in the bud with a domains subforum.

Another viewpoint is there are 100s of platforms specifically designed to auction domain names on, and there appears to be zero interest from anyone on here actually buying them. People are creating these domain threads because they're a free way to advertise.

lets make bounty for theymos (5 min of his time spent on adding new section to marketplace section tree)
how big it should be?

How about 1 domain thread only per seller?

I can't remember which mod it was, but one of them spoke to the most prolific domain listers but it seems like we're back at square 1. Maybe that approach isn't effective.
