This thread is as invasive as the ones asking how many bitcoins you own.

I suggest you make a poll for a question like this, it would be tough to get most people to give an answer unless they somewhat feel anonymous.

would be interesting to know if theres any whales on the forum but you could not verify the info without proof
like a signed wallet etc

i am 25 years old and i am 1.5 years old in bitcoins rite now i dont own much i used to spend them on daily basis and i am glade i did , but now its not a good time to spend

I think I might be 62, but my memory isn't what it used to be.  I suppose I might be as old as 68 or as young as 54.  Regardless, I'm old enough to know that this is a silly question, and that the majority of the answers that you receive will be lies.

You are not one of the youngest BTC users.I was few months ago on coinchat.org and one was 10 years old,yes 10 years.And he is making youtube videos and he is using bitcoins.Idk if he is still active,i did not visit coinchat now for a long time. :D

What is this all about? Please keep in mind, that only bitcoiners who are on this forum and reading this thread can answer you. So how many percent can this be, IMHO below 0.000001%. And they could lie.

I am sure most of the users here are in the age range of 18-30. Thats the age bitcoin most appeals to.

I second this. A poll would be much more appropriate.

My guess as to why, is because many will look at Bitcoin and what it surrounds as for "mature" minds. A lot of (no offence to OP) 15 year olds minds are not so focused on charts, graphs and trends then they are school, pot and sex.

Maybe I am just small minded, but that would have been my thoughts when I was 15. ;)

It's true, granted I started learning technical analysis back when I was 13, many kids that age just aren't that interested in their future.

IIRC a few people have made surveys that indicated 30 is around the average age. So fairly young to be dabbling in financial 'products' but older compared to the typical demographic of popular sites/forums which tend to have a userbase focussed more in the teens to early 20s (i.e. before real life kicks in).

I'm 32. I think the whole idea of cryptocoins get the attentions of the 30's. The younger aren't that busy with this kind of economic. Some will but not the most.

Average age is likely 20-40 with the majority around 30 I would guess. Of course there are bound to be people on both sides of this range as well but the majority are likely within this range.

Well I doubt that you're going to get honest answers. We have the same problem with polls on the forums.
Also you should not be asking such questions since they are harming the anonymity of the individual. We are all here because we're seeking anonymity (among other things).

Dad?  :D I think the average bitcoin users are early to mid twenties and I am exactly that as well, we need guys like Vod to keep us in check all these whipper snappers running around everywhere trying to take over the world..

You need to know, it is not same, girl is young with 18 but dog is very old at that age :D

I would think the median age is 25 for users of bitcoin.
On average it is the ones just out of college or university that get into it because they want to find a way to try and pay off their student debit.

Well, this is a private question. Because age is one of the most important thing of someone identity, so if I tell you my age then I am not anonymous anymore. Then what's the purpose of Bitcoin anonymity???

A majority of the people who are doing the bitcoin trade are the youths aged between 10 years and 35 years. the reason being they are the age bracket in which computers and the internet have caught their attention. I am currently 25 years old. This however does not mean that we do not have the people in the old age carrying out the business. My father is 51 and he busy check the coins and trade even more than I do.

Yep! There are a lot of different ages of people using bitcoin and bitcointalk. As you said, there are of course more people under 40 using bitcoin than over, as more people under 40 tend to have interests in the internet and, thus, Bitcoin! There are many people that are over 40 that use the internet, but some older than 70 are probably still trying to calculate how such a "large" amount of information travels to their computer screen. I know there are many elderly people that "ditch" the idea of using computers through a lack of understanding of that subject. This is very strange to me considering, the computer was initially created in 1954 and the ideas for it came from the 1800.

Based on your age: this means that you have tried harder than the younger people on the forum to encorporate Bitcoin in your life. The younger you are, the easier it is to use computers but it is harder the older you are. I still don't think that age is old though! I'd say that that was still middle age (until aroud 54-55), depending on the country you reside!

I see tons of ages on here and I have to ask the question, is it OK to do business with BTC users and Altcoin users who are under the legal age of adulthood in their location?  I know in the USA I can not enter int a contract with anyone under the age of 18, but would BTC and Altcoin exchange be considered a contract.

No! I don't think it would! I also believe that "the legal age" (the age of majority) in the US is 16!
Exchanges over the internet means that you are anonymous and technically not creating a contract with them, you are just hosing a deal with them.

27 Reporting in. Been using bitcoin since I was 24 or so. Completely has altered my life and path.
I often wonder where I would be had I not discovered Bitcoin, Likely not launching businesses and trying to regain honour is my guess.

I often feel the average bitcoiner is a middle aged neckbeard that has made a living off the internet.. Or folks that are younger and faucet munchers.
Hard to say really. Would be interesting to see what type of statistics could be pulled if someone offered a survey for BTC to actually have a head count as to see what the demographics are.
