Private photos of Taylor Swift for Bitcoin. The keyword here is 'Bitcoin'. Well.. the hackers claimed to have Taylor Swift private photos after hacking into her Twitter and Instagram account. Not sure if it were real or fake.. but.. saw this on The Verge (http://www.theverge.com/2015/1/27/7921965/taylor-swifts-twitter-account-hacked).

What do you think? Private photos for Bitcoin? What are the hacker trying to do? Will they attack Bitcointalk Twitter next? - they attacked Malaysia Airline twitter yesterday. Let discuss!

Could someone explain, how you hack a Twitter account?
I mean, you either hack Twitter(and would have access to all accounts or at least, the ones with bad passwords) or you try something on the user-site e.g. keylogger.
Is there a third way?

Watch as all the news outlets accuse Bitcoin of harboring criminals.

You could bruteforce the account, but Twitter hasn't learned its lesson if it thinks Taylor Swift forgot her password and tried to login 9123891723 times...

Invasion of privacy and it's indirectly linked to bitcoin. I wouldn't want that publicity

The hack could be real, it's not that hard to do if you have the time and skills. I wonder if she has some nude pics there like Jennifer Lawrence :)

Yeah. Me too, it make Bitcoin reputation lower. In TV shows it always mention Bitcoin in a bad way. Hopefully, there will be a show which help Bitcoin.

Also, I dont think they have her private photos. If they have, someone would have bought from them by now.

Due to the fact that bitcoin is a virtual currency it makes it easier to launder and receive funds without physical contact.
It's no longer a "put the money in the briefcase situation"...

Unfortunately sometimes it's as simple as them leaving the account logged in at a hotel or losing their phone...

It's quite easy for some one with photoshop experience to make certain pictures look like they are really from a certain celebrity.

Also, it baffles me as to why someone would actually pay money for someones photos. I mean in all seriousness, I would prefer to pay nothing and watch/look at porn that is better and probably chicks that are more sexy then a celebrity's photo that is most likely photoshopped. I guess some folks have fetishes that they just can't control XD

You need the password hash to use a rainbow table. So, the Twitter database had to be compromissed for that.
Brute Force shouldn't work, since there should be a limit on login attempts.

I think with cases like twitter they must just be images the original owner direct messaged to someone else and the hacker just went through the sent mails. Not sure why people would send nudes via social networks like twitter though, especially celebrities.

I'm not doubting the authenticity of the hackers claims but other celebs have had pics hacked and leaked like this before. Not sure if she was hacked but Hayley Williams of Paramore had a topless selife tweeted out from her account (not sure how you can accidentally tweet a naked selfie but whatevs.

The celebrities should stop uploading naked photos to their dropbox accounts  ;D

Well, thats like what 99% of celebs said (unless they were extremely obvious like Jennifer Lawrence's pics).

I hope she is a libertarian.  She is so cool.  I don't like her music much but she is awesome.  The criminals that do these things are human trash.  I have been the victim of attempted extortion a few times and I always stood my ground.  If you do your best to live rightly every day, you should have nothing to fear.

Taylor already commented and said it's a false claim. People will try anything to make money these days. They pick the most famous people, and then they spread FUD like this.

The "Jennifer Lawrence's " fiasco created enough attention for people to try to copy cat it, with false claims.

The only nude photo's you might see of Taylor Swift, will be photoshop fakes doing the rounds. { This is getting very old, very fast }

Imagine if those people just used their creativity, to create something genuine and unique. { time wasted, imho }  :(

Maybe if someone know their email account could send a message that redirects to a phishing site in which if you put your login details, they're going to be known by the one that created the site.

And bitcoin being put to a bad name again . But I think its more publicity for bitcoin.

If the user enables two factor authentication, they can have lesser chances of getting into the account, unless the hackers manage to bypass the authentication too which seems unlikely.

Does twitter even have 2fa? I have never seen it. And although I feel sorry for these celebs but they shouldn't be stupid enough to load nudes in Instagram in the first place.

Bruteforce does not work on Twitter I believe.  It would be foolish to brute force a password as there are infinite combinations you could use.

Celebs are just too technologically dumb. They use same passwords for everything and god knows what silly question they used as recover pass.
Thats why I see big disasters happening with Bitcoin if it reaches mainstream status. They will send stuff by accident, forget passwords and whatnot, it will be a show.

No one cares about Taylor Swift in the first place.  Perhaps she should write a song about breaking up with someone, and bad mouthing them over and over in the song, she hasn't done that ever.

Well silly stunts like this, is the reason why people, perceive Bitcoin in a negative light.

We as a Bitcoin or Crypto currency community should speak and discuss this and bring the truth forward, for all these chills and trolls, who would jump on this as the next negative thing they can post on every public social media they can find.  >:(

The only celebs that do this are z-list famewhores. Kim Kardashian before she was famous needed the publicity and Taylor Swift doesn't. In fact this would likely be more damaging or embarrassing for her than get her great publicity which she doesn't even need as she's probably one of the biggest celebs on the planet right now.


Well there's nothing we can do about that but think of it this way; at least it's some free publicity for bitcoin and gets people talking about it.

Most hacker's payment method is already bitcoin due to its anonymity and the difficulty of tracing payments. Did you even read the OP? It is talking about the Twitter post, OP is not selling anything.

It appears Swift has reclaimed her Twitter account, thanking Paramore's Hayley Williams "for being the first to text me about the hack this morning" — but not before this all-star quip:

"Cause the hackers gonna hack, hack, hack, hack, hack..."

Swift is also being quick to dismiss the hackers' claims that they have nude photos (but not, however, with parody lyrics).

"PS any hackers saying they have 'nudes'? Psssh you'd love that wouldn't you! Have fun photoshopping cause you got NOTHING."
