What I mean is, the Bitcoin community needs a new slogan and campaign of huge proportions about the Bitstamp recent hacking.  Something similar to the HIV/AIDS awareness in the 90s.

Why?  Because people are still losing coins by sending to old Bitstamp address.  Looks like there has been over $50,000 sent to the old addresses, and that was several weeks ago.  I'm not sure what the numbers are now but I'm sure it is growing.

I say we call the campaign:

OLD BITSTAMP IS SHIT BITSTAMP!

It's not Bitstamps fault if people don't check their support messages, I'd say they've done very well given they were hacked recently.

Are you serious?  Do you know how many people have saved bitstamp addresses for automatic cashouts from whatever services they use because stamp is supposed to be reliable?

What if someone was on vacation and the service they used did an automatic payout to stamp after the hack?  What if one used a 2nd email that they don't check regularly for their bitstamp account.

These scenarios are many.

Yeah, as I said, it's your own fucking fault for not checking, it doesn't matter if you're going on holiday or not, what kind of dumbass leaves bots and transactions running like that assuming everything will be okay once an exchange has been hacked?

People, especially people who deal with a lot of money in Bitcoin and have experience in it, should know better.

It is definitly not Bitstamp's fault.

I'll 3rd that. Most exchanges just disappear, Bitstamp dealt with it really well and set back up quickly.

It's certainly not their fault if people don't check their emails. On that what bitcoiner (a technology based currency) doesn't check their emails?!

and I will 4th that ;) Now if Bitsmap didn't sent private messages or emails for the users about their hack and about them changing their adress then it's basically people's fault for not checking the website/email . I mean even if they don't check their emails ... like how in the world they didn't hear of the hack , it's everywhere on the news Press , TV , everywhere ..;

I think they did a good job to remain as a credible exchanger and we shouldn't put the blame on them just because someone else completely ignores the message and made silly mistakes.

If you are dumb enough to do auto payouts to an address that you don't have the private key to, then that's no ones fault but your own. Period.

a better campain to start  would be to use your own wallet instead of an exchange adddress  for incoming  deposits
,third party payments and ad signature payments you may be getting

only an idiot would leave money in an exchange after the last 5 years of catastrophic failures

you can always send it to the exchange IF NECESSARY

you should NOT use an exchange for storage like a bank  

Never leave money in an exchange, go there do the trade and get out. Bitstamp cannot be blamed in this because they paid out to people who got affected and informed everyone about it, after that it was not their fault if users still kept using the hacked addresses.

They should probab;y call each one of them personally and inform them about not using their old addresses

Ah yes. The "hack".

I made a dream last night.
In that dream exchange operators all over the web were taking BTC from their exchange and calling it a hack.
Everybody believed it. Life is good.

Then again that is just a "dream"

I'm not debating whose fault it is.  I'm saying there needs to be a MOVEMENT.  Banners on forums.  Stickies.  Slogans.  Signs.  ETC ETC

I'm not debating the idiotic things people do.  I'm making a statement that the forums and online crypto news is not doing enough to make this known even more.

I'm not putting fault on anyone.  I'm not blaming bitstamp.  It was unfortunate.  I made this post so that people will blow this thing out of proportions.  i want people's faces to be tatooed with the following:

I'm agreeing on this as well. This is the fault of the people. Anyone who is smart enough won't let this happen to himself.

There have been many hacks, there isn't a need for any movement. We should rather let this 'dark time' slip by, not promote it everywhere.

It is awareness purposes, so that more people don't send money to the thief.

We've done all we can, constantly I am warning people not to leave their money in online wallets for a long time, to backup their wallets just to be safe, to make sure they double check things before sending money. Do they listen? No, the information is there for people intelligent enough to read it and listen to us, even Satoshi who made Bitcoin laid out a whitepaper detailing exactly how Bitcoin works but people still fucking choose to ignore it and on purpose on top of that.

When a human being deliberately ignores all scientific and mathematical reasoning provided to them with no effort on their behalf, they are beyond help.

There actually hasn't been that many transactions to the old addresses. It's just that there's been a couple massive ones.

We should raise awareness in regards to security measures. Mentioning old hacks (this one is fresh though) isn't really helping. The people rarely listen, but the businesses often do.
