I just got a mail from - <info@multibit.com>

It says-

This is a SCAM So stay away!!!

Notice the domain they are linking to: it says "mulltibit.com/..."

So, in case you're still wondering: 100% SCAM!


Besides, think about this: your bitcoins or wallet in MultiBit are not registered, or related to some 'account' or whatever. And thus it's completely unrelated to your email adress. So how or why would the real MultiBit developer email you about an update? He would post it, using his official account on various forums and communities.

This. No one ever has to sign up an email to use their wallet, so clearly a scam.

Pretty much this, it's just trying to get a wallet stealer on your pc.

Also, the real Multibit is on ".org" domain not ".com"

More than scam, they will steal your Bitcoin with your private key :-\

Obvious this is a scam, and they want to steal your private key >:(
And download link isn't from MultiBit official link (multibit.org)

But i wonder how did the scammer get your email address ?

after you look at domain name in the email and their official website domain name you will find the answer yourself
this is definitely scam, be aware and avoid such email also report them as spam

Must have bought (or hack) email data from some bitcoin related site.

Many faucets, dice sites and other require email for registration. It's good idea to create a separate email account for such purpose rather than use your primary one.

Indeed, nice try of them. Always download the wallet from their website. Never by a link in a mail.

Always a rule number 1. Never click a login or download link sent via email.

Who said that multibit has any fault in this? I guess they are completely legit. I posted that mulltibit I a scam and not multibit.

Had received a email containing the so called 5.19.1 version which ofcourse does not exist
It amazing how many scams are happening everyday, i constant received emails from known companies to pay this or that.
Which ofourse contains a *.jar file which most people allow to be run so if people not knowing open them loose whatever they can steal.
I have all that stuff blocked and not active so nevva gonna happen in anyway on my systems.
But most people are not so paranoid so they get screwed.
I learned many so called new crypto's turned out to be also being copied and distributed as new version of these programs.
But some which are released are even trojans since release
If you get a message which claims to be coming from the makers do not click it but go the website they should be coming from and check if its really true.
So simply go to the makers website, if its not what you know it looked like do not download and ask here on bitcointalk if its the legit one

Okay so you were offered a better version than me.

Is there anyone else who also received such emails?
