Title: igot.com problems
Post by: alishah on January 30, 2015, 09:28:46 AM
Hi, i created my account on igot 12 days ago. I did steps for level 2 verification. 2 days ago i deposited by online banking $5000 in my igot account. Everything went well until i bought 8 bitcoins with igot credit and then wanted to withdrawal the bitcoins in another wallet because i don't want to keep the bitcoins with them. After 8 hours i still didn't got my bitcoins and i opened a ticket. After another 5 hours i get a message from this "Julie" who said that we need to setup a video call in order to withdrawal my bitcoins. What should i do ? because i don't want to make any video call, they didn't said nothing about a video call or something else when i sign up with them. Cheers

Is this written in their terms and conditions that a buyer has to have a video chat with them?
I haven't traded with them but if it is not mentioned they should make it clear prior the trade, this is the kind of stuff which makes people stop using an exchange.

2 new accounts created claiming they got scammed by igot.com, why no older member claims this only newly registred users?

I don't have any transaction id or something. In my account it say "Pending Manual" . I bought some bitcoins from Bit Trade Australia after and the transaction with them was good. I got my bitcoins from them in 8 hours but with igot.com i get very nervous.

There is nothing on their terms about a video call. I sent them copies of my drivers licence and a utility bill for my proof of address .. i responded to "Julia" that next time will ask for a naked photo with me for verification .

igot are fucking useless. It's just extra verification that they don't tell you about (did you use bpay?). I had to do the video call twice because I apparently they just forgot i'd done it the first time. You'll get your coins eventually it's just a major pain in the ass working with their shitty customer service.

If you dig into their support pages they do have some stuff about the extra verification. They just do a really poor job of making anyone aware of it.
http://help.igot.com/customer/portal/articles/1731436-further-verification-requirements

In the video call they all they do is have you hold up the documents (that you already sent them) in front of the camera. It's stupid but it only takes a minute.

I'd strongly recommend using some other service (once you've dealt with this). Coinjar have been good to me.

Well as someone already mentioned they are not going to release your btc without the video call, so just do that, get your coins and never trade with them again. Good thing you opened up this thread, so others can stay away from them.

Keep us posted how it went.

I won't do any video call. When i setup my account i did all verification they asked for and nobody asked for a video call verification. I will wait till Monday to see what happen if not i will go to my bank and ask for refund and report them to authorities because i stay with 5000$ locked and i can't use them.

Makes sense. But if nothing works out, you might want to consider getting your withdrawal by any means possible (even a video call - nothing to lose, right?).

Once you get your coins, never do business with them again. Choose a better exchange next time.

On my drivers licence they have my name and my address, on the utility bill they have my address. The money was sent from my bank account that is on my name ! I think this is enough.

Others seem to be cases of fiat withdrawals. In fact their withdrawal process is very very slow.  >:(

However I have not noticed problems in BTC withdrawals so far. Very strange.  :o

Posted back in 2014-Nov in another locked thread about iGot.com

tl;dr: OMFG it took me almost a month to get my BTC out of iGot. But it seems to get faster once you have established some trades over time (a long time).

So i tried out iGot (Australia) the other day. They worked and is legit, but are hella slow in releasing your coins to you. I think they are intentionally slowing the process to make sure you are not a fraudulent customer (nice way to treat your customers, assume they are scammers until proven other wise..).

After getting Level 2 status which takes 7 days from your first BPay deposit, you need to further verify your ID documents and bank statements to iGot staff to be able to withdraw any significant amount of BTC. This process took me a further 14 days to complete (snail mailed docs) and even after that, when I was able to withdraw all my BTC, there was EVEN MORE DELAYS to authorise the release of my coins. This took another 36hours before they processed my coins onto the blockchain.

Cash deposits at a branch does not instantly appear in your iGot account. Takes about a day which I thought was ridicules. I also notice they recently took WestPac deposit off their site. Only has CBA option now. (BPay still available)

With all that said, my last BPay transaction did appear in my account faster and had the coins release to me within 12 hours. I hope it gets faster now since i've traded with iGot for over a month now. Will update, if they ever become decently fast.

on another note, iGot is not an exchange as I see it. They just have a spot price and you pay that price (+fee). There's no nominating what price you want to pay. There's no order book to see buy and sell orders. It's like coinjar, but no GST, and mutha fukin slow.

Peace,
QG

i gave up using this service. too slow. cumbersome, unpredicable.

there are better services in Australia, much better.

Here is what i got from "JULIA"

 Aiyaz,
Thank you for your email.
I will go ahead and cancel your orders and refund the money to your bank account.

If we cannot verify you, we cannot release the Bitcoin.
This is listed clearly on the site. We do require extra verification for certain withdrawals.

What you read on forums is people getting angry for us to do out job right. We do not want to be defrauded and we do not defraud people.

Please confirm you wish to close your account.

True, it wasn't their fault after-all and they're still giving you the other option, so just cancel it and get your fiat back and next time make sure you read the T & C of an exchange prior to any trade.

Not really. Here is what their terms actually say, did you read them?

Quote
Responding to discrepancies that arise while verifying customer and beneficial owner information

igot has risk-based systems and controls in place to respond to any discrepancies that may arise while verifying customer or beneficial ownership information. This may include collecting additional information from our customers:.

For example, a discrepancy may arise where:

the name on a customer's passport does not match the name the customer provides to the reporting entity
the name of a director provided by the company does not match any current director's name appearing on the company search extract.

The poster did not say there were any discrepancies in the information they provided. Also terms and conditions are not a justification for bad business practices.

IGOT regularly withholds customer transactions without discrepancies on their whim. This is not part of the terms that customers agree to. It is bad business practice.

My opinion is if they need this identification it should be part of their verification process.

IGOT are stupid idiots and that Julie support staff character is a fucking idiot! IGOT blatantly LIE when they say you can deposit Credit Card via Bpay.

You can not deposit with a credit card through Bpay that is a huge LIE! Bpay credit card deposits are charged a  21% cash advance fee from your bank!

Also I sumbit I.D documents for verification and they come back saying "pictures blurry". Are they fucking serious? My I.D scans are 600 dpi quality!

IGOT nopt to bve trusted! They are LIERS!

A new account may only mean that having a problem and wondering whom to turn to for advice, they came here.  I can assure you, I created my account here on bitcointalk many years ago. I pop in from time to time to read comments.

I'm in the middle of an Igot nightmare with what, to me, is a large amount of money that now seems to have disappeared into thin air almost a month after I first tried to withdraw it.  I know how the other posters feel and have also had the bizarre, contradictory messages from Julie.

I am an older member.  I've been emailing Dan as per his suggestion since April 20th, and while he may be polite and responds quickly, it still doesn't change the appalling experience you can expect from Igot.

2 new accounts created claiming they got scammed by igot.com, why no older member claims this only newly registred users?

The same happened to me. I could withdraw some fiat about a month ago. Then order BTC withdraw and some more fiat, but since more than 3 weeks they have not executed these orders. Yes, Dan answers the e-mails, but the guy has no power, he is just some sort of psychologist, a if we need therapy. Nooooooo! what we need is just our money. Mark from support and others said that by Monday, tomorrow 8/6/2015, the bank account in Australia will be unblocked, and able to send fiat. As per them, it was blocked because of a fraudulent transaction (?), but what a coincidence that the platform was also upgrading (?). If they do not resume their services normally, we should complaint to the respective Australian authorities (Department of Fair Trading, Police, Commonwealth Bank). Better sooner than later. This thread and the other thread are full of people being scammed by iGot in various ways and large amount.

I firmly believe if several people complained to Department of Fair Trading, they would get kicked in butt. I don't have an account with them (and I'm glad for it), but if I had one, I wouldn't wait and go ahead with a formal complaint.

I'm pleased to report, and should have done so a while ago, that my funds were eventually released.  Without Dan, I think I'd still be waiting on it.  It did arrive minus small amount - £15 that neither Igot, not my bank could explain who'd deducted it.  On the whole, it was a small amount to get worked up over, just the principle of disclosure.

I highly doubt their commonwealth bank account has been blocked. I am a commonwealth bank customer and I sent funds to their account last week no issues. if the account was under investigation then the money would have been bounced back into my account, or I would have received a call from their fraud department alerting me to the situation. I would say its all story telling and delay tactics.

I'm not waiting, I filed my report with the department of fair trading. I would suggest others do the same as soon as possible.

I knew there were several users affected by iGot's wrongful practices and there were several threads discussing iGot problems, so I quickly searched the forum and this came up:

And these are all ffrom the first page of the search. I didn't bother to go on the 2nd page.
I hope people learn from this and stay away from this shitstorm.
