Title: Let's have a look at stellar69, account farmer, spammer, blackmailer and thief
Post by: worhiper_-_ on January 31, 2015, 08:46:07 AM
Few months back, the guy steals an account (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=858370.0) named mailmansdoge. He's still using this account to date to promte signature campaigns, and spam posts on boards to boost his post count.

BadBear has revealed that he's an alt (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=362287) of puzzel.me (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=361804). As puzzel.me he would attempt to extort people in several ways, follow his posts from this account and you'll see a pattern of shady behaviour. He even attempted to blackmail (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=780245.0) developer johny1976.

He's now using all those accounts, and maybe even more to earn from signatures and actively spams boards. Leeches give-aways, promotes scams by bumping etc...

My question is, why is this behaviour accepted? I thought account farming was forbidden, I'm surprised this guy hasn't received a ban to at least one of his accounts after all that he's done.

Nope. Account farming is not banned. You could make as many as you wish. You could even sell em.

Account farming is in fact banned. It could earn you a ban in all of your accounts. BadBear has reportedly done this for hundreds of accounts.

I wouldn't. I've made my own account and haven't changed the password. (Actually, I think I only changed it once. ever.)

No it is not. If one of your accounts gets banned then you are not allowed to use any of them for the duration of the ban. The reason why BadBear has banned so many farmed accounts is that generally speaking the more accounts that you own/have, the lower the post quality you will have, so if you have a lot of accounts you will generally have a very low post quality - that of someone who deserves a ban.

I think this has been discussed before again and again. Badbear has banned hundreds of accounts not just because they had bad quality posts but also because they were used by farmers. You know this very well. The guy in the OP has broken every single rule about signature spamming and account farming. There's no good reason to justify this because as you said it just results in more spamming.

Do you want to bet that account farming is allowed? How much would you want to bet?

Bet? Why should I bet on this? If this is allowed you should be able to prove it easily since your entire business model in this forum is based on it. Trying to get even more money out of it is a bit pitiful of you.

Nonetheless, trying to game the system of any forum would break it. Bitcointalk is no exception to this. That's why signature restrictions have been brought in place and mods still ban signature spammers/farmers.

We should bet because you are confident that you correct. I can say that you are wrong (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=891783.msg9973755#msg9973755) ;)

Well then, you shouldn't be surprised if one day you wake up and all the accounts you have get banned. Here's BadBear banning 50 accounts a farmer owned.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=786662.msg8875006#msg8875006

Not dissolved, still bannable.  ::)

Here's theymos saying that using an alt account to evade a ban is forbidden
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=104178.msg1140954#msg1140954

It's also forbidden to use alt accounts to create false credibility. No way to prove account farmers aren't doing neither. The guy in OP did that, even extensively.

You are making generalizations. if an account farmer follows the rules then he will not be banned. The reason BadBear banned so many accounts was because the owner was evading bans. If the owner had not evaded bans then he wouldn't have banned so many accounts

If farming was banned then surely Quickseller would be too. As has been stated you can own/create/farm as many accounts as you wish, though 9/10 account farmers will just make shoddy few word posts and that's what they'll get banned for.

Other alts he owned were permabaned for spamming according to reply https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=780245.msg9916685#msg9916685

Some good research by user botany

Who knows how many more accounts this person uses for spamming the forum.
